This is Gus, a 10-or 11-YO street dog from a rescue shelter. The old guy had a hard life, judging by his condition (sarcoptic mange, undernourished).
The first photo was at the shelter. Such a forlorn fellow I've never seen. The second was shortly after he was brought to his forever home. The other two were from a couple of weeks ago. He looks better still since then.
He's an absolute prince. Only now is my seething contempt for the son of a bitch who abandoned him subsiding.

God gave us this world and the creatures in it for us to husband with a love like that He shows for us. He will not forget those who betray that trust, or those who cherish it.
Gus's sad, lost look tells a heartbreaking story of most of his life. Doom, I'm happy for him, and proud of you, that you have saved him and are teaching him love and joy.

Real beauty comes from worth, and worth comes from inside. You have shown his worth through your love, care, and concern -- Doc, he's beautiful! Blessings be upon both of you (and all the other Doom beasties that may roam up there).:thumb:
Many Blessings,

Doc,
As an old friend and one who cares for others as you do, you have shown the compassion and humanity that we all should give to God's Creatures.
The Doggie looks a lot better and more important, you can see the trust in his eyes grow with each photo.
As one who has rescued many stray kitties over the year, I can more than understand that. Also, as a regular watcher of the various "Animal Rescue" shows on Animal Planet, I join you in your quest to nail the bastards that abused such a nice dog.
Godspeed.

They say we all look like our pets after many years.
Does that mean Gus already has a headstart?
Hey Doc he looks like a Pit-bull/husky/chow mix of sorts, possible Siberian Husky in him.
One thing, do you get the National Geographic channel?
They have this program on their by the name of 'The Dog Whisperer' (every friday night) The guy that helps people and troubled dogs is called Cesar Millan, If for any chance this poor sweet pooch has problems from his past it would be beneficial to watch, listen and learn from Cesar Millan (the Dog Whisperer)
I cannot stress how Incredibly interesting that show is even if that wonderfully saved pooch has no probs.
PS: Gus is a kewl name :thumb:

Nah, he's almost infinitely better looking than I am.

Hey Doc he looks like a Pit-bull/husky/chow mix of sorts, possible Siberian Husky in him.God knows what's hiding in the DNA. There's Akita in there, and the vet sees wolf within the last few generations, but the rest is "mystery meat". No matter. He's my buddy.
If for any chance this poor sweet pooch has problems from his past ...Not a chance. That life is gone. Re the NGC and Animal Planet, one of these days I might invest in a dish for the few worthwhile channels.

We knew you would be a Provider. At 500 quatloos per day for the pooch, via his food bowl, the love you give him and the wagging of his tail. :) That is priceless. Bless you and Gus. He is massively cool. :)
(BTW..to Rink and Doc...I just re-watched "The Gamesters of Triskelsion" last night). Everytime I saw Head Thrall Galt walk across the stage I thought that was one more Dem run over and not because of the quatloos ringing in his pockets.
If you know what I mean. ;)

He looks much happier now. All my animals are adopted. Our Sheltie mix was found on the side of the road, the Lab mix is a pound puppy, and the cat is an adopted barn cat. I've often dreamed of buying a purebred someday, but the 'mutts' have simply been the best companions imaginable. I say "companions" because our animals really aren't pets. They're family members.

You're a good man, Doc. We got our pooch from a shelter too. She was undernourished to the point all her ribs were visible. But, she turned out to be the best dog we've had. She's a blessing.

I totally concur Rhino!
Almost ALL of the members we've added to our family have been leftovers, unwanteds or precious poundies. My two latest "sons" were the runt and the unwanted pup (out of 11, he was only one who did not have a home to go to, nobody picked him). That's the only reason we have new purebred cuties, In case y'all haven't seen the new Hms-sweeties:

Then there are those who decide to adopt you. We have a large pond across the street from work. Yesterday, one of the other offices in the building had some stuff being delivered off a truck, so they propped the front door open. I went to walk through the lobby and was greeted by two large geese who followed me around wanting a handout (I didn't have anything available). Anyway, they showed little fear and brazenly begged anyone who passed by, sqwawking away. It was kinda cute, and almost a disappointment to chase them back outside. I brought some bread in this morning, but have know way of knowing if the ones I fed had our two 'intruders' amongst them.
Nah, he's almost infinitely better looking than I am.

Doc this month at Walmart you can buy the First full season of the dvd 'The Dog Whisperer', released I think on May 23rd of this month at walmart.
Might wanna check into that, its a seriously VERY good tv show to watch if anything, Cesar Millan is Incredible to watch when he works with people and their dogs, the main prob isnt the dogs,,, its the people who dont understant the 'pack mentality' with dogs.
Its a Must-watch show Doc I Highly reccomend it!!
Heres the website for you: Cesar Millan Center (http://www.dogpsychologycenter.com/)

Doom,
Very nice Dog.
Personally I'm a cat person with three adopted stray cats. I cannot for the life of me understand how a human being can abuse an animal.
I'm glad he has a good home now. Enjoy the rest of his life.

Looks like those two Doom Dogs have become fast friends.
I hope they are both trained to bite liberals on contact.

Bad news.
My precious and precocious Arwen came from a litter of six. Four boys, two girls. I got one girl, the other stayed with her mother and the owner. The four boys went to homes right away.
I got Arwen when she was 3 1/2 weeks old. The owner dumped her in my shop and said "I'm sick of taking care of these puppies. I'm giving them all away except one". I had to feed Arwen by bottle and the cats had to sleep with her at night to keep her warm and feeling safe.
I just heard that the owner got pregnant and let Arwen's mother and sister GO. Just dumped them on the street as strays. I am FURIOUS. They are beautiful poodles so I hope someone found them and gave them homes, but this is just atrocious, simply atrocious. I would have taken them and found them homes. Not to let two little miniature poodles GO.
No wonder I despise most people. There are only a few, and most of them here that I have any respect for.
