McKenzie police have charged two Carroll County parents with raping their child. Jonathan Wayne Goodrum, 19, and Kristina Louise Sawyer, 18, are charged with raping their 1-day-old girl before she was taken home from McKenzie Regional Hospital about six weeks ago, said McKenzie Police Lt. Tim Nanney.

"There were some skin tears in and around the private (back) area of the child," he said.
The investigation led to the child's parents, Nanney said, and there was no indication that any hospital worker was involved in the incident. "Based on the investigation, we ruled out everyone but the mom and the dad," Nanney said.

IF THEY ARE FOUND GUILTY, I want some bleeding heart to explain to me why these two deserve leniency.

One thing, without absolute actual factual evidence both these people are still innocent, all these doctors have is circumstantial evidence and just assumed since 'nobody else' at the hospital did it, the parents HAD to have done it.

God knows the hospital people could NOT have done it, so they pin the blame on the parents without a shred of actual Factual evidence except for the 'tears injury' on the child's backside.

Key words 'no indication' they do not know for sure, they dont have a video they ONLY have the injury on the child and assumptions, and with their assumption that none of their hospital workers would do such a thing.

I HIGHLY doubt a new parent would do such a thing to their own newborn, its ludicrous and stupid to think so.

So lets wait and see for further details of this investigation before jumping off the cliff with snap judgements, as we ALL know the media never reports the whole story, just the sensationalist parts for news circulation.

These investigators ONLY have assumptions to go on with this case.

And in the eyes of the law these parents should be Innocent untill Proven without a shadow of a doubt guilty and to me they havent done that yet.

Call me all sortsa names but I refuse to jump to conclusions esp with a media prone to telling only half of a story.

Whether it's the parents or someone else who turns out to be the perp(s), sending them to Saudi with "F*** Allah" or "Allah sucks" T-shirts (in Arabic) would seem to be a fitting punishment.

Not really . . . what will take a lot of guts, is for officers of the law to protect these two slime if the evidence shows they are guilty and they are found guilty. I would have a MUCH harder time as a person with a heart keeping myself from KILLING them and being forced to protect them in the face of such a heartless, despicable act.

I dunno ... there are plenty of cases of mothers leaving their babies in toilets or putting them in trash bags , nothing surprises me ... sickens , but not surprises ...

Sawyer's bond was reduced to $5,000 after her arraignment.

so , for a measely $500 , the suspect of raping her own newborn can walk free ...

DPrasse's point is absolutely valid. We live in a society in which giving birth to a child for the sole purpose of having a compatible blood marrow donor is considered ethical by "experts." Given that. along with the callous disregard humans (for lack of a better term) have for their own unborn, it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to envision a parent willing to give birth for some perverse, ultimate sexual experience. It boggles the mind, to be sure, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Parents have the responsibility of taking care of, teaching, and making self-supporting, their children, to make them not a danger to society. In return, they have the right to be their children's authority. I'll whack the living crap out of any clown in a black robe who dares me to show him why that is so.

Maybe they'll get that so-called bioethicist at Princeton to say that, since the child is so young, it's not a moral issue. If it's all right to kill newborns, as Peter Singer (http://www.utilitarian.net/singer/) suggests, why shouldn't it be acceptable to have sex with them?
