WASHINGTON, D.C.

On NBC's "Meet the Press" last Sunday, Rep. John Murtha repeated his call for "redeploying" U.S. troops from Iraq with something new -- and disturbing to fellow Democrats. Asked by moderator Tim Russert about sites for redeployment, Murtha replied: "We can go to Okinawa. ... We can redeploy there almost instantly."

When Russert expressed doubt about "a timely response" from Okinawa to meet a Middle East crisis, the 16-term congressman from western Pennsylvania and new national security spokesman for his party stumbled: "Well, it -- you know, they -- when I say Okinawa, I, I'm saying troops in Okinawa. When I say a timely response, you know, our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly. And -- and -- when they don't know we're coming."

In fact, a Pentagon spokesman says it would take "under a month" to prepare and send a 4,500-man Marine Expeditionary Force 6,000 nautical miles from Okinawa to Bahrain and then 600 more miles to Baghdad.

....our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly. That's true. They can fly from there very quickly, but they can't fly to the Middle East very quickly. Fighters require fuel, parts, maintenance personnel, munitions, etc. It's hard to believe an ex-military member can be that stupid.

Sure hope he is unseated at election time. He should be ashamed of himself. I've noticed though, demolibs and libocrats have no shame, they can look you in the eye, lie, and never blink, twitch or falter (or if they do, it just looks natural, :smirky: ).

What an amazing dumb bitch.

He's the blonde slut at the party who pretends to be passed out early so that the football team will bang her. He's just that used.

Who here wants to act like a Osama Moore Football Pool Person? The type who bets on US soldier deaths and instead bet on the when that war criminal dies..of a heart attack, a stroke or gets hit by a car?

I personally would like to see this "Marine" (puke) go the way of the UK Ambassador in the Python skit "Bicycle Repairman". When the Chinese dude who overtook the UK embassy explained to "Bicycle Repairman" that the UK Ambassador "have heart attack, fall out of window, onto exploding bomb and was run over by car".

Keep talkin, Murtha... The more he talks, the more he looks like the sad, laughable character that he is... Every public statement he makes is a political advertisement for the Republican challenger... Not to mention the damage he's doing to the Democratic party's image in general...

It's pretty sad when a US Congressman surpasses Osamma as the terrorists favorite cheerleader.

Not necessarily stupid, but clearly senile.

It's hard to believe an ex-military member can be that stupid. Some people pass whole careers in the service and learn basically nothing about how war is waged. Their entire careers are spent playing politics of some sort. Murtha pretty obviously fits that mold.

Fact is that large numbers of troops could be redeployed more effectively -- with the logistics they would need -- from CONUS than from Okinawa.

Murtha's the sort of joke that would have been laughed out of Congress after the second telling 30 years ago. Even the liberal establishment would have shunned him -- though many would have secretly agreed with him, mind you, feigned embarrassment, issued sober objections with only the merest of “buts” attached at the end, knowing that the American public would not tolerate such brazen treachery. Today, only serious conservatives seem to recognize just how incredibly stupid and treacherous this bleating fart sac is. Multiculturalism seems to have done its job. It’s not merely the kook fringe that is heralding him as a genius. A frightful percentage of the American population is scratching its head and wondering if the old boy might have put his finger on something after all.

*Shudder*
