Portugal wins on penalty kicks to reach semifinals
GELSENKIRCHEN, Germany (AP) -- The ending is familiar: Luiz Felipe Scolari pumps his arms, his players wildly celebrate and their English rivals slump to the field, beaten and exhausted.
Portugal, Brazil -- it doesn't matter. When Big Phil is coaching, his team will send England home. That goes double when the team is Portugal, triple when it comes down to penalty kicks.
England gamely hung on after David Beckham got hurt and Wayne Rooney got ejected, but lost to Portugal 3-1 in a shootout Saturday night after 120 minutes of scoreless soccer in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Good. I am sick and tired of hearing Beckam this and Beckam that.
Finally the prick who thinks hes the best guy in the world gets whats coming....Hes shit in soccer.
Also nice to know that the world cup ads mainly show brazilian players while they are the team that just got knocked out.
Why aint that german player 'Miroslav Klose' who has made the most goals in the world cup 06 been in TV ads ?
5 goals and he hasnt been on a commercial yet.
But the brazilian players who have only made like 1 or 0 get on TV.

I see nothing wrong. Ads are made in advance based on what people had done to date at that time. Every major league soccer forward in the world thinks himself the best there ever was, so Beckham's not unusual in his arrogance.
Brazil has been world soccer champ more than anybody else, they had the best player of all time (Pele) and their main man Ronaldo is known worldwide. If a single country can be said to represent soccer, it's Brazil.

If Italy or Germany take the cup this year they will be the best european team of all time as both germany and italy hold the title of 3 world cup wins.
Highest number of World Cup wins:
5 wins: Brazil
3 wins: Germany and Italy
2 wins: Argentina and Uruguay
1 win: England and France
Strangley enough both germany brazil were home to nazis and the italy is where the fascists held power and france where the vici french nazis were.
