Broward County schools' progressive policy on transgendered children will be tested by the admission to kindergarten this fall of a boy who believes that he's a girl.
One little girl entering Broward County kindergarten this fall is actually a boy.
Few will know this genetic truth, because the 5-year-old's parents and school administrators have agreed that it's in his best interest to blend in as a female.

They'll know it the first time his skirt flies up while playing on the playground. That's gonna make for some interesting dinner conversations with the parents.

Gads. One of my dearest friends was born transgendered. All her life she believed that she was female and finally had the surgery that matched her external with her internal.
These kinds of transgendered people are not gay, lesbian, or homosexual. In knowing my friend, there certainly did not appear to be any mental disorder of any kind. They are not in need of therapy so they can become the gender their external genitalia demands. They are perfectly well adjusted men and women, except for little things like vaginas and penises.
Jen was a stunning woman, extraordinarily beautiful. She married a doctor from Laguna Beach, adopted three children and was a stay at home mom, looking forward to being a grandma some day. Like any woman, like any of us. Incidentally, like many women, prior to each adoption Jen suffered from "hysterial pregnancies" in which she was symptomatically pregnant although not actually pregnant.

You have got to be kidding me!
This world gets wackier by the minute!
He should not be considered a she until he IS a she!
And what a wacky world that I would ever type "until he IS a she"!
Sheesh!

I wonder how many homos, male and female, would go for a sex-change operation.

I don't know how such surgery would go on a five year old kid. I think that the medical and psychiatric community has this backwards. This isn't a pathology, it's a birth defect
All zygotes are female. As the pregnancy progresses the male chromosome is added. In these kinds of cases it seems that the development is incomplete. The zygote never fully develops into a male fetus. Some babies and it would not surprise me, if this was one such case, are born hermophic, possessing undeveloped male and female gentalia. Doctors normally "fix" this shortly after birth. Most of the time, the doctors keep the male genitalia as more people wants sons. Sometiems they get it wrong.
The kid needs fixing. She's a girl and as entitled to surgery as those conjoined twins here illegally got.

Why should they? They have fought very hard to make their perversion normal and good in this country.

So will he. He'll never find the urinal.

You'd be surprised. It would be very few. Most gay men are quite happy being men. Most lesbians are satisfied with being women. Most transgendered are nutcases who are looking for attention. Then there are the few who are actually transgendered and need medical help. The wisdom is in knowing the difference. Most of the time, when someone says "I'm a woman trapped in a man's body" it's a nutcase. The truly transgendered and I've known quite a few including my friend Jen, and some of her friends, aren't trapped, they feel like they have a birth defect like a harelip or disfiguring birthmark. They feel no compulsion to pretend to be in a man's body and aren't trapped.
One of the hallmarks of a truly transgendered person from a wannabe is that they really look like their opposite physical gender. You wouldn't know the difference simply by looking. Some of these "guys" who are really women only need to slap on a little lipstick for a night on the town as a woman.

Why are they making such a fuss over a hermaphrodite? Why embarrass this child further? This "secret" won't be a secret long.

The child is not a hermaphrodite. He is chromosomally and physically a boy.

How many girls wear skirts anymore? Of those who do, how many don't wear underwear?
I think the only chance of a problem will be if the kids want to watch each other go wee-wee.

My son is 8, so I've had some recent experience with children in this age range. (Not to mention the hubby who was a teacher 9 years before becoming a principal)
Actually many girls do wear them every day, and the little boys in Kindergarten like to run up and flip up their skirts. They think it's "funny". Also, normally Kindergarteners aren't real aware of their surroundings, so you have little girls on the jungle gyms showing their undies to the world...
As far as wearing undies goes, most kindergarten girls wear undies...but even with undies on I can tell my boy is a boy...there's that tiny little bump in the front. However, by as young as 3rd grade, some girls begin wearing thongs, much to the dismay of teachers. Once they get to about 6th grade the "cute" girls don't wear anything other than skirts.

But if a man rapes a little girl the ACLU will rush to defend him while blaming the victim for "showing her panties" or some such tripe....

K29, thank you a TON for your remarks. I'd decided on my own, some time ago, that "a man trapped in a woman's body" didn't seem too weird to actually happen. Can't say I've known anyone in this situation, but as with so many other things, how a person accepts and acts his/her role is vital in how others accept him/her.
Because of K29's comments, this has become a Hall of Fame thread.

My big issue is this is a 5 year old kid. How much of this is his parents influence or idea? How can this be allowed to be done to a five year old who has no concept of the situation?

You can't "change" a kid who's "really" the proper gender. Dr John Money at Johns Hopkins ruined a kid by trying to change him to a her. Money, a multiculty, was just sure that gender is, as they say, "socially constructed."
It isn't.

I really should leave this alone... but I've got to ask... are there ANY cases where the ACLU has defended a rapist on the basis that the victim was to blame?
