General Motors in attempting mergers with car companies in both Japan and France. The deal still on the table right now, and to be honest, since I don't own a car, nor plan to in the near future, it generally wouldn't concern me.

However, it seems not Senators and other eliments of the federal government are discussing stopping this merger for the good of the country... what kind of *********** is that??!!!

In the case of GM, it's not an entirely independant entity (something I disagree with already, but its off subject), but now its not even being allowed to make normal business desicions. Since when can our government tell a company when to or not to deal with allies? Either we place a trade embargo on all overseas industry, or we just accept "American jobs going overseas", but in the mean time, its not right to make business desicions for a company!

The UAE? They're not our enemies... unless you're attmepting to profile all Arabs as somehow evil. Besides, what UAE wanted wasn't even close by a long shot to total or even substantial control.

They are absolute supporters of terror.

I know that we are no longer fighting the war on terror, but we can at least refrain from handing them our ports here while our men are dying over there.

I'm having a hard time remembering that particular deal... either one. I think the deal the UAE had with the Taliban had was not only in the past, but for econonmic reasons. In any case, the US and UAE have been dealing with eachother since before the Clinton administration. Why are we so paranoid of them now?

The port deal, was not to hand over jobs, nor security control, nor ships... it was some kind of land deal, exteremely limited compared to how much of a deal was made about it.
