Why is a general testifying on matters of domestic public policy? This jerk needs to be fired right now. But Bush will probably promote him to Field Marshal and give him an estate in California.

Pace's unexpected, emotional testimony (http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/nation/15008514.htm) poignantly underscored the message Senate leaders want to send the public: Only a Senate bill they passed in May can deliver comprehensive immigration reform, giving more than 9 million of the nation's estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants a possible path to residence and then citizenship

Bush intends to win this fight... He intends to award citizenship to millions of illegals while winking and nodding to millions more who will cross the boarder this year... He has an agenda of creating the North American Union, which by its very nature, erases our borders as well as our sovereignty...

IMHO this is also, by it's very nature, treasonous!

But then, it's just treason....by a duly elected official of the United States Government.......no f**kin' biggie!

This whole thing ignores the fact that Pace's dad came here legally. There is a clear distinction and it needs to be made. As for the legal immigrants who have family members who are illegal, if they have sworn to uphold the laws of the United States, then they are criminals as well. Which raises the question: what is in the oath when a person signs up for military service?

I, ___________________________________, do solemly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

I wonder what our enemies thought when they saw America's top soldier (a marine!) breaking down and simpering like a child about his daddy. Imagine Chester Nimitz going before a Senate Committee and pulling this crap during World War II. Who was this fool trying to send a message to, Oprah or Osama?

Sorry Rhino, but that's the enlisted oath. Pace is an officer. The Oath is slightly different....

I (state your name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Not different in substance. As far as upholding laws, there's no difference, and I gathered that was the context of your original question.

You're behind the times, boy. There's a new oath acomin'.

I, ___________________________________, do solemly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the FREE TRADE AGREEMENT OF THE AMERICAS against all enemies, ESPECIALLY U.S. CONSTITUTIONALISTS; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the INTERNATIONAL TRADE TRIBUNALS, WALL STREET JOURNAL, THE UNITED NATIONS and the orders of the BUREAUCRATS appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of THE HAGUE AND BRUSSELS COURTS. So help me THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR/PESO.

What Lindsay Graham (yeh, him again!) had to say at the conclusion of General Cry Me A River of Tears Pace's testimony.

Graham said, "It takes a strong Marine to cry." (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/10/AR2006071000610.html)

Unbelievable.
