AKRON, Ohio -- A judge Tuesday sentenced an Akron man to death for the July 2005 stabbing death of his former live-in girlfriend.
The execution date for Clarence Fry was set for July 31, 2007.
Because of the likelihood for appeals, Judge Patricia Cosgrove ordered that Fry be put in solitary confinement every July 31 for the remainder of his life as a reminder of the crime he committed on that date.
In court Tuesday, Judge Cosgrove repeatedly warned Fry on Tuesday to stop smirking and making disparaging remarks about his victim. When he did not comply, the judge ordered him out of the courtroom.
