I think the problem with taking military action against N. Korea is that a lot of innocent people, who have been tortured--but made to believe they were being protected--by the dictatorship, would end up getting hurt or killed. Of course, the same argument could, I suppose, have been made about Iraq, though I think many people there were aware of what was going on and knew how corrupt Saddam & Co. were.

First off, mass manipulation for militaristic purposes would only be another in a long list of crimes against humanity, and war movements by Kim Jong Mentally Ill.
Second, the ignorance of both the Chinese and North Korean people is grossly exaggerated. Most of them know their leaders are corrupt, and fewer perhaps, but many, know what they're missing. Rebellions however are put down with an iron fist, and even those whom attempt to leave are shot at the border.
Kim makes Saddam look like Gandhi as far as international threats go, and his ill treatment of his people parallels that same madman. The North Korean Government has never kept its word, and if memory serves, have been far more blantant than Saddam.
Perhaps Bush's multilateral talks have worked though, and the Chinese will not join Kim in what I believe will be an inevitable conflict. As much as I think the Chinese governmet deserve the same embarassing defeat as Saddam, if we could continue to beat them with simple capitalism, that would certainly be preferable.

One major difference is that China (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/print/ch.html) has over 1.313 billion people in 3,694,982 square miles of area. North Korea (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/print/kn.html) has about 23.1 million people in 46,541 square miles. The logistics of ruling N Korea with a iron hand are far less complex and taxing than doing so in China.
As well, NK has an unknown numbers of Internet users—almost certainly no civilians—vs China's 111 million as of June 2005, about 4.8 times NK's total pop. [Internet data is from here (http://www.internetworldstats.com/asia.htm).] That in itself is injecting foreign (read: western) influence into China that is absent in Kimland.
Eventually the ChiComs will fade into history, having become an anachronism. A hollow-point in KimBoy's forehead will probably end NK's misery. A black-bag op is called for here. Or maybe just a midnight cruise missile into Pyong Yang.

It would be kinda cool if Kim has pissed off the Chinese though. America and China. Lets see the democrats spin that little alliance of wills!
Kim many others will preach that Kim has totally brain-washed his public, but in reality, many reporters have had one person after another, anomously of course, reveal they have knowledge of Kim's lies, and wish to be rid of him.

china is with north korea, not us. do you think that kim il would have fired those rockets if he knew it would alienate his only major ally?
pass the resolutions, blockade the country, and let the japanese and s korean militaries deal with the fallout
