On February 15 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_15), 2006 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006), Weaver signed a 1-year deal with the Angels for $8.5-million. After posting a 3-10 record with a 6.29 ERA with the Angels, he was designated for assignment on June 30. Jeff's younger brother, Jered Weaver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jered_Weaver) was recalled to the Angels roster to replace Jeff in the starting rotation.

On July 5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_5), 2006 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006), the St. Louis Cardinals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Cardinals) aquired Weaver from the Angels in exchange for minor leaguer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_League_Baseball) Terry Evans (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Terry_Evans&action=edit) and cash considerations. He debuted with the team not as a pitcher, but as a pinch hitter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinch_hitter) in a 14-inning game between the Cardinals and Dodgers on July 13, 2006 at Busch Stadium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Busch_Stadium). The Cardinals would end up winning the game 3-2 on an Albert Pujols (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Pujols) game-ending home run. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Weaver

Mondays game july 17: The Cardinals had won their first seven games since right-hander Jeff Weaver arrived in a trade with the Angels. But when Weaver took the mound for the Cardinals for the first time Monday night, the streak came to an abrupt halt. Losing a full-count, foul-ball-laden battle in the third inning with Atlanta catcher Brian McCann, Weaver surrendered a grand slam that was the fulcrum for a 15-3 Atlanta victory. Weaver, who took the place of spotty Sidney Ponson, hadn't pitched in 20 days.

The guy just plain sucks. He should go back to the minors.
I watched him play for the angels, dude just wouldnt stop erroring.
His brother Jered Weaver on the otherhand is much better then his older brother Jeff.

I dreaded when Weaver started for the Yankees.....it was the only time I counted them out of games in the past few years....I felt the same uneasiness about Wang, but he has doen very nicely.

Ponson is a nice addition to the Yankees club.

Glad you have him and not us! Trouble on the field and off the field. Fits the mold of a Steve Howe or a John Rocker.

and a Manny or Pedro?

Pedro was a jerk and I'm glad he's gone. So was Clemens and I don't miss him much either. Manny? At least he doesn't take a mid-season vacation (Pedro was famous for doing it annually) or cry about his contract. He hasn't been "Manny being Manny" as much as he has in the past.
Neither of them had "off-the-field" issues like Steve Howe did. (7 MBL suspensions if I remember right)

LOL. Well I can remember Manny saying he wanted to be a Yankee because he was born and raised in NY.

Im more than pissed right now because I hate A-rod. I hated him when we got him, I voiced it then, and he is sucking it up out there. They moved him to DH because he has 18 errors (league leading) and he has gone 0-4 the past two nights at DH. I loved Soriano and meanwhile he is phenomenal right now, I hope we can somehow land him by the trade deadline....trade A-rod, I could care less. I'm thinking realistically though, we don't have much to offer a team besides a big contract.

Please Sheff, Zambrano and Matsui GET BETTER QUICK!!

I don't remember that but that's not to say that he didn't.

We agree on something. I hate A-Rod too. He's no Jeter (and I respect him), he's no Nomar (I miss him) and he's definately far from a Ripken ( a class act). I think both Seattle and Texas have proved that their is life after A-Rod. Maybe the Yankees will get smart and find out the same thing.

BTW, no one is going to take A-Rod with his fielding AND his $25million/year pricetag. Sorry, but you're stuck with him unless you release him and pay the 1/6th of his salary you would be obligated for.

Yes, I said it would be hard to get rid of him because of his salary. His fielding? Sure he has struggled this year with the league leading 18, but there was 5 in 5 games. Las year he had 12 errors the entire year. Remember he is at a new pos in third base, from shortstop and he handled it well. His fielding wouldn't be a facor if someone were to be interested.

He had all of last season to get used to 3rd base so I don't buy that defense. He's just being sloppy in the field this year, plain and simple. I still think the Yanks will end up like Seattle or Texas, finding life better AFTER A-Rod.
