Well I just thought I'd let you know that any thoughts you had of repeating as National Champs left with Vinny. Not only that, you might as well give up any thoughts of repeating as Big XII champs, much less winning in the Cotton Bowl in October.

Blue, I can understand. Last year, my beloved Tennessee Volunteers went 5-11 after going 11-5 the previous year. It does hurt!

:moo: Let me tell ya a little story. Years ago, when I was in the Air Force, I worked shifts in the 8th Air Force Command Post at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA. Quite a few of my colleagues were Alabama fans. It was in 1981, & I kept bragging about how Alabama had never beaten Texas. It was quite a safe boast, since Texas & Alabama weren't scheduled to play each other. Just my luck, when the bowl pairings were announced in November, the Cotton Bowl had issued an invitation to Alabama, to play Texas. And just my luck, I was scheduled to work on New Year's morning, when everyone would have out the TV set watching the game. Worse still, several of the Tide fans were also scheduled to work that morning. After three quarters, Alabama was up, 10-0, & I was getting the evil eye from everyone, salivating for the end of the fourth quarter. Then, after making me sweat it out for 45 game minutes, Texas got their butts in gear, & won, 14-12.

:moo: Texas has still never lost to Alabama, but I learned that there are really no safe boasts.

:moo: I'd also like to add that losers brag before the game, because they know it's the last chance they'll get.
