If Hungarian voters have their way then Budapest could be the home for the first bridge in the world to be named after Chuck Norris, the high-kicking star of countless action movies.

The Ministry of Economy and Transport could well be kicking itself after the star become an early front runner in an online poll organised by the ministry to name a new bridge across the Danube.

Almost 9000 people have voted for the "Chuck Norris Bridge".

The name was suggested by somebody who said that it would be a good idea because "there is no such bridge in the world and Hungary would be the first".

:moo: Mr. Norris is certainly deserving of the honor, but for the next bridge, may I suggest "The Longhorn Platinum Bridge"? That, too, would be a first.

Chuck Norris would just do a roundhouse kick which would cause the bridge to collapse. And just for that, I hope they name it after him...

Well, I would suggest "The Lubbock Bridge", except for the fact that we ain't got a danged thing to put it over out here in this part of Texas. It's hard to even find a dry wash, much less a running creek.

We're in the same neck of the woods...have you not been getting rain lately? It's been coming down pretty delicately for two days now here.

That's falling-off-the-chair-funny!

Where in the heck is that? I know it's got to be somewhere in that breaky country just off the Caprock.

EDIT: No rain here. No threat of rain here!

That's odd, because I'm only about 90 miles south of you.

This is odd because Chuck Norris is a running joke among people my age, we make jokes about Chuck all the time. In fact, there is a Nation Wide group on facebook (it's like myspace except only for college students-almost all college kids have it) and it's called Chuck Norris is God. I wonder who voted for him this many times...funny.

:moo: It's an old one-lane bridge over the Canadian River flood plain in Hutchinson County.

Yeah? Go find a book called, "The Secret of My Success." Chuck wrote it himself. I learned much about one of my favorite actors and gained a great deal of respect for him. It's an older book (I read it in 1990) but it's a great read.....and it will put an end to those "running jokes."

I've seen some other pictures of the Chappaquiddick Bridge. I don't think it had railings when Ted drove off of it in 1969. They might have been added later to prevent a repeat occurrence.

Right
Norris was no joke. He is one of the few actors who competed in full contact fighting. A real bad ass. We're not talking Van Dam or Segal here.

Decline, I have looked the house over for my copy of Senatorial Privilege [Leo Damore].

Can't lay my hands on it. If I could, I could clear up the question of railings on the bridge.

As I remember the photographs from the book, I think you're right. There were no railings on that bridge at the time of the incident. The railings were added later.

I remember clearly, a photograph of a diver, half in, half out of the water, with his arms resting on the bridge, and I don't remember a railing.

Yep. That looks like one of the phtots that was in the book, as I remember it.

I also remember a photo of the Oldsmobile visible just under the surface of the water.

No offense CB, but there are a lot of things that people your age find funny that really shouldn't be. I have two sisters your age and I oftern just look at them and shake my head when they talk about things.

Beo - I've read the book and I agree it's very good! :thumb:

And by the way, Chuck Norris is the Real Deal.

Walker: Texas Ranger wasn't, but Chuck is.

He's what my daddy would have called, "A real good man."

It's a 'running joke' but not in a bad way. People love the guy. Especially the round house kicks. I used to love, Walker Texas Ranger...

"Cause the eyes of the Ranger are upon you, anything you do he's gunna see, so when your in Texas look behind you, cause- that's- where the Ranger's- gunna be."

I also really liked his partner, the black dude, he played in Die Hard as one of the crooks-the computer guy who get's punched by the limo driver.
