MEXICO CITY - Mexico braced for further unrest after leftists protesting the disputed presidential election blocked the main boulevard in Mexico City on Monday, snarling rush-hour traffic in the center of the world's second-largest city.
Hundreds of camping tents filled Reforma Avenue, completely shutting down traffic to the country's financial district and museums, as supporters of presidential candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador pressed their demand for a recount of the July 2 election results.
The blockade affected eight miles of Reforma Avenue, a stretch that includes the U.S. Embassy, the Mexican stock market, Chapultepec Park, the National Anthropology Museum and other tourist attractions.
