HAVANA - Cuba government has mobilized citizen defense militias, saying it fears a U.S. attack during Fidel Castro’s health crisis, even though the White House insists no such threat exists.
The island’s government, under the control of Castro’s brother, Defense Minister Raul Castro, has also asked military reservists to check in daily.
Cubans interviewed on state-run media Friday said they would fight to the death against any invaders from the north, while the Communist Party daily Granma said, “We Cubans are prepared for the defense” of the island.
White House press secretary Tony Snow rejected as “absurd” any suggestion that the United States would attack the island.
“The U.S. has absolutely no designs on invading Cuba,” Snow said in Crawford, Texas, where President Bush was vacationing at his ranch. “Cubans are going to have to chart their destiny. It’s the one thing that they’ve been deprived during the dictatorship of Fidel Castro.”

The only way to keep the death grip of the Castro tyranny on the Cuban people is to invent bogeymen that are even more evil than their "leaders". What Cuba needs most is assassinations.

“Cubans are going to have to chart their destiny. It’s the one thing that they’ve been deprived during the dictatorship of Fidel Castro.”Well, Tony, not exactly. They've also been deprived of normal lives filled with normal expectations, lives and expectations they had a right to expect. They've been deprived of the fun and laughter and satisfaction they should have had; of accomplishments they could have achieved; of pride they could have felt; of freedom to travel throughout the world that should have been theirs; of decent medical treatment rather than glorified first aid; of honest education rather than cheap indoctrination (in which they aren't alone, sadly).
Yeah, they've been deprived of a whole lot more than just one thing.

Here's someone (http://www.thefirsttwins.com/blog/images/Cindy.Sheehan.TV.commercial.screenshot.png) who would probably help them out.

Hon, surely you don't believe all that rot from those interviewed was inspired on sincerity and honesty.

Well, of course! It's not as if the state-run media and the communist party daily are hotbeds for dissent, now are they?
Honestly.

If we wanted to attack Cuba they are gonna need a lot more than ground troops. I think the worst our troops would have to do is duck when they start throwing all those rice cookers Fee-del gave to the residents of that island paradise.

Lol--Cindy the "freedom fighter"?
LEt's see, if we amassed some naval and CG ships around the island (well outside their territorial waters), and did a practice land invasion with about 5000 NG troops at Gitmo, maybe bro Raul would get so trigger-happy he'd shoot at one of our ships giving us the right to retaliate with a few well-placed smart bombs.

If we wanted Cuba, we would have taken it long ago. I mean, who would want a run down, dirty island nation where everyone there is trying to defect here in the first place?

LOL. Beo, I agree. Why waste our best and finest on such a dump?

It might be a cost-saving measure in the long run. We take out a few of the Spanish-speaking Maoists, let the rest take of themselves, and they won't be no mo floaters comin' our way.

I am betting he already is dead, and they are figuring out what to do now. Considering his age, you would think they might have been expecting this and prepared. But maybe Fidel didn't like the idea of them preparing for his death.
