Moore film fest screens "Jesus" despite objection
<!-- END HEADLINE --> <!-- BEGIN STORY BODY --> By Gregg KildayFri Aug 4, 7:33 PM ET
Ignoring a request to remove the documentary "Jesus Camp" from its lineup, Michael Moore's Traverse City (Mich.) Film Festival went ahead Friday with the first of two screenings of the film.
The documentary looks at a summer camp for born-again Christian children, and has won top jury awards at this year's Tribeca Film Festival and AFI SilverDocs Film Festival.

If you have a liberal bone in your body, you "NEED" this, if you are a conservative, you already "KNOW" this.
I saw this haunting documentary at its Tribeca Film Festival screening and I must say, "Bravo Ladies! Bravo!" (Directed by Heidi Ewing Rachel Grady) Thank you for pulling the curtain back on the conservative movement.
All things start with the planting of seed. For humans, that means the children. This film takes us into the inner workings of the Christian conservative movement and their near militant beliefs. The Children in the film are of course very likable, but the film rather cleverly and without commentary showcases the manipulation of their innocence by their church, their parents, and the surrounding community to create a new army of believers and "world changers".
All of which serves as an eerie reminder of just how easily the human mind is broken, than molded into whatever it is a preacher, government or president wishes to do with.
I beg all liberals to watch this film when it comes to a screen near you.Jesus Camp (2006) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486358/)
Small Wonder Shamu Mooron and his heathen toadies approve of it.

That movie is hatefull. The liberals bitched about 'pearl harbor' being racist but when its 'christians' being attacked its A OK in their books.
This film should be BANNED ! under the grounds of indecency and hatecrimes and slander.

But of course, this mistake of nature would go beserk if you told him/her/it that the very same thing can be said for leftist indoctrination. :flame:
Liberals are the scourge of our times.

yet, Becky Fischer, the leader of the camp and person this film focuses on most, says the film was fair and encourages Christians to go see it.

when I watch the trailer I know what it must seem like to Christians---"Here we go again! One more movie that bashes Christians!"
But I'm asking you to give the movie a chance. At least see it before you make a judgment. I honestly feel it's a fair look into what we do.

Has anyone actually seen it? How does the film misrepresent the Christian position? I havn't seen it either, so I'm wondering what all the fuss is about.
How does it bash Christians?

I've seen it, and it doesnt. The film focuses on a very narrow group of Christians, but it in no way claims that this group is in anyway representative of Christianity at large.
Becky Fischer, the pastor that it focuses on, is portrayed as someone who genuinely loves children and loves Christ and wants to make the world a better place - in her own misguided way.

Thanks Star.
So, as someone who HAS seen it... do you think it should be banned? Do you think it portrays its material realistically and fairly, or is it biased and intentionally anti-Christian?

It's anti-Christians-who-take-their-faith-seriously, since they are offensive to atheistic imbeciles. OTOH, one will NEVER see "Allah Camp", about Palestinian summer camps where children are taught to hate and kill Jews. Why not? A: because the imbeciles loathe Jews almost as much as they detest Christians, ergo they approve of the kill-Jews camps.
first, I'm agnostic,

absolutely not. that would be a blatent violation of the 1st amendment.
Do you think it portrays its material realistically and fairly, or is it biased and intentionally anti-Christian?
it wasnt perfect, but I think it did a good job overall. It has a liberal bias on abortion, homosexuality, intellegent design, and seperation of church and state. It portrayed these people as misguided rather than evil. Its not anti-christian, and it does not attempt to portray all christians as being the same.
*edit*
The way people react to the film shows much more about them than it does about the film. Christian conservatives who are convinced that liberals are out to distroy Christianity are going to view this film as an attack on Christianity. Liberals who are convinced that Christian conservatives are trying to turn this country into a theocracy are going to think this film is a great exposure of the evils of the Christian right. Neither is true.

I'm from a conservative Christian family. Growing up I went to church and was raised on Christian values. I've read the Gospels, among other parts of the Bible. I do have some idea of what I'm talking about.

Nope, If you can't see the bias in this then you're hopeless or have an agenda.

And its sad that the delivery was apparently so robotic that you also turned out to be ... robotic.
The left is so introspective (http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/showthread.php?p=482044#post482044) that they won't be satisfied until the X-rays come back showing them the tumor. Its a form of vanity. Loving yourself so much that you have to get a money shot of the asshairs of your own criticism. Then, they play it back, over and over again and misdiagnose this as courage. As if anybody cared.
Its not courage. Its a fetish. The same way a boulemic rejects pie after consuming it. Then reliving it a second time around.
The American left smells its own finger after each wipe. That's what this film is. The left runing away from its own past, its own heritage, taking jabs at its own reflection in the mirror. Smelling its own shit and giving us all the rundown on its terrific berry flavor like some kind of stuffy expert wine taster. Sorry, if I've grown past such pettiness, but I pulled the pine 2X4 out of my asshole a long time ago. I prefer someting less apolegetic.
Apparently I'm more certain of my own faith. I never had a hand-me-down Jesus camp faith. I was never raised on faith in anything. I was raised atheist. I had no rules. My parents bought me dope if I wanted it. They almost wrecked me. I would have given anything in the world to have gone to one of these camps, to have been raised a Christian and not have made not only the mistakes that I did, but endured so much unnecessarily, that I didn't have to endure.

I won't see the film unless I rent it later. If it was hatched from Michael Moore's Anti Christ mentality the end result will be to denigrate anything Godly.
The Hate God crowd produces what they are regardless of what it may seem to be.

I saw the movie, and honestly, I was thrilled to see children so on fire for the Lord.
Was the movie biased? I guess in the sense that they really pushed the Pentecostal/Charismatic aspect of it in an attempt to make the people look a little "off kilter".
But honestly, if I were someone who was not familiar with Pentecostal/Charismatic worship, I would be a little taken aback stepping into one of those churches on Sunday, let alone watching a movie about them. I attend a Pentecostal/Charismatic church now, so it's not a big deal to me, but right after I was saved, a friend took me to a Charismatic church, and it kind of freaked me out.
Overall, I really don't see what the big fuss is about. We ALL indoctrinate our kids into our beliefs to an extent.

Wyatt, I could have written this. I envy those who were raised in Christian homes. But I am very thankful that despite my upbringing, I still came to know the truth and was saved.
I am doing my best to right the wrong of my upbringing by bringing my kids up in a solid Christian home.

OK I love the reviews they use in the Trailer "the washington city paper" The editers of that paper have joined in in the impeach bush movement The Gay, Lesbian, SM, Dominatrics dating section is muchly appreciated though.
"The Hot Button"?? Guess what? They panned the Passion of the Christ
They compair it to the movies "Hellraiser" and "Jeepers Creepers."
Reading the hot button... They liked the film but found many problems with some of the depictions in it....like
And for me, that is where there is a problem with Jesus Camp. The film opens with a radio playing over images of Middle America. And the first thing we really hear is George Bush talking about nominating Sam Alito to replace Sandra Day O'Connor, followed by further discussion about that nomination and then, more political statements by the extreme right. Soon after, the film offers a radio-based Greek chorus to "balance" the film. He is a radio host and lawyer named Mike Papantonio, who is currently co-host of an Air America radio program called, Ring of Fire, which is co-hosted by Robert F Kennedy, Jr. There is no mention of the distinctly liberal association, which seems unfair."
The review on Hot Button is interesting the reviewer is liberal and he lets you know it. But he sounds like he gave his best effort to be as fair as he could be. Movie city news (http://www.moviecitynews.com/reviews/2006/jesus_camp.html)
