Poll: President's backers may abandon GOP
Updated: 6:51 a.m. PT Aug 11, 2006
WASHINGTON - Republicans determined to win in November are up against a troublesome trend - growing opposition to President Bush.
An Associated Press-Ipsos poll conducted this week found the president's approval rating has dropped to 33 percent, matching his low in May. His handling of nearly every issue, from the Iraq war to foreign policy, contributed to the president's decline around the nation, even in the Republican-friendly South.
More sobering for the GOP are the number of voters who backed Bush in 2004 who are ready to vote Democratic in the fall's congressional elections - 19 percent.

Oh yes the republicans were pounded in 1994,2000,2002,2004 cause the polls said so !
If the polls say pigs can fly then they really have been flying.

MSNBC is another member of the Drive-By Media. I wouldn't trust those assholes if they said that the sun rises in the east.
An Associated Press-Ipsos poll ...The DBM is obsessed with taking an endless outpouring of obnoxious, tiresome polls and trumpeting them as news. The initial purpose of polling was to gauge public opinion on issues, with the results used without publicizing them. The DBM adopted them for propaganda purposes. In our day, far from determining public opinion, their intent is to shape public opinion by "reporting" biased, subjective results that support their social and political agenda.
There's not one real journalist left in the DBM. They've sold their souls for the sake of attacking President Bush by a hundred f**king polls every hour of every day. They are creating news rather than reporting it. And then they wonder why their credibility is tanking.
They can print their polls on 60-grit sandpaper, roll it up rough side out, and shove it rapidly and repeatedly up their recta. They're become crashing bores.

Take the poll, turn it sideways and stick it straight up your candy ass....as "The Rock" used to say back when I thought wrestling was cool, c'mon I was like 12.

This page from the Liberal Playbook is so dated and stale. You'd think they would get new material, as this ploy has failed them on more than one accasion.

Yes, this sums up any AP-Ipsos poll, they are notoriously liberally biased.
This latest poll of their's really makes no sense at all, as others have already said. Why would any of those numbers drop, especially among the GOP base? August is always a boring month for the GOP, but the polls usually stay flat.
AP-Ipsos polls are noted for polling many more registered Democrats than Republicans, conducting push polls by shady techniques such as asking leading questions, reciting a list in a favorable (to them) order, and just being plain wrong most of the time.
Ipsos is a French company, just saying.

While I can see Bush's numbers dropping, I cannot see how this would reflect a shift to the left among those polled. That their results indicate as much makes me suspect that this poll is the usual liberal nonsense...The Dems are dodging the real issue just like the Pubs are... For different reasons, to be sure, but the MSM wants to paint this as a general swing to the Left among voters... That's not the case at all...
The biggest defining issue that is bringing the Pubs down is the one issue no one wants to admit is there - Illegal Immigration... And to that media hack who claims that the President's backers are abandoning the GOP, I say, Get your head out of your ass... It is not US who are abandoning anyone - It is US who were abandoned and betrayed by the GOP...
Certainly there are individuals among the Pubs who are vocal on this issue, but on the whole the party has lined up like dutiful little children behind Mr Bush and his personal agenda of Latinizing America and erasing our sovereign borders... And for what? To pander to a new political group whom they believe is the wave of the future - It is this pandering that MAKES them the power in politics in the future...
The Dems are silent on the issue because the Pubs foolishly are handing the Left millions of new welfare voters... The Pubs are idiots to think that they can court these new illegal voters and keep their comfy arrangements in Congress...
No, its not us who abandoned anything - We were betrayed by a party of cowards who are letting the globalists give America away...
But this I will say... The next man who has the courage of Ronald Reagan to stand up and speak the truth and stand for a strong sovereign America is the next man who will stroll into the Whitehouse with an overwhelming majority of votes... America is sick of conmen and is hungry for a leader again... The man and the Party that offers them that will be the next power...
The Dems have been taken over by Marxist loonies, and the Pubs are infested with gutless, nutless quivering cowards...
I think America is right now primed to embrace a third party...

If Bush's position on illegal immigration hurts Republicans, it won't help Democrats--except to the degree that potential Republican voters decide to stay home on election day, rather than go to the polls.
Ideally, if you're a Democrat, dissatisfied Republican voters will switch to your side; however, if your side has the same position on a key issue as the other side, the best you can hope for is a supporter of the other party abstaining instead.

Actually, I hope they will support Republicans who disagree with Bush on illegal immigration, and that there are enough of them out there to matter.
