Recently I heard a radio show going on about acceptance of dildos. That many women like them as part of sex with their man, that mnay (most) men shy away from them, and encouraging men to accept their presence in their bed and take up the task of applying them to their lovers once they are sated. This was just another in many examples of efforts to mainstream dildos for the pleasure of the emancipated woman. The basic position appearing to be : When she wants it and you either don't or can't, the with-it, caring, modern man is not threatened by her desire for an inamimate object that's always ready, and applies it to her himself.

Now, it's all very nice to be open-minded and sophisticated and secure in one's sexuality. But I wonder why these same people don't call for the analogous service in reverse?

If it's the manly thing to do to weild your wife's dildo once you're spent and out of commission, then must it not also be the womanly thing for wifey to do to invite Bubbles the blow-up doll into bed when Madam is unavailable?

Why is a woman with a dildo liberated, but a man with a blow-up doll is pathetic?

It sounds like a good joke. But these discussions - on radio and in the press -are dead serious on the topic of women's freedom and satisfaction thanks to growing acceptance of dildos. Where are the calls for wome to finally swallow their pride and offer their inflatable alter-ego when they've got a headache? Of course just like the dildo-weilding man, the truly caring, modern woman would hold the doll, and rock it back and forth. Sounds ludicrous? Why does one sound ludicrous and the other is good for serious discussion on the media?

Excellent thread. My point exactly. Radio shows, talk shows, authors, women's magazines, will all talk in complete seriousness of women's freedom from needing men thanks to their electronic gizmo liberation. The same topic applied to men always becomes a joke.

Just for the record, I have sleep apnea, and the Doctor told me at one point that it might be caused by my "overly large tongue". I mean, I CAN touch my nose with my tongue. (Don't ask me what prompted this test, but it certainly has been a conversation starter in the past).

They wanted to do surgery to make my jaw wider to accomodate my tongue better, but I think my rugged good looks would have been affected. ;-)
