Do we have any collectors here? I hate what is on tv these days and we don't have cable so I collect old tv series on DVD. I have started a pretty good collection. In the past few months I have bought:
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea-season 1
Gilligan's Island-season 1 & 2
Flying Nun-season 1
Gidget-season 1
Rat Patrol-season 1
Waltons-season 1 & 2
The Nanny-Season 1 & 2
Golden Girls-season 1-5
Bewitched-season 1 & 2
Fantasy Island-Season 1
Dallas-Season 1 & 2
Lavern & Shirley- season 1
I am just getting started.

Hollywood is even screwing up old cartoons by vowing now to cut out the PI sections of them. Yet.....they show the filth cartoons of these days and think that is ok.

Lonesome Dove (the original, not the followup series)
Best of Carson (just highlights)
Home Improvement (all available)
I'll probably buy Friends once the price comes down below a bazillion dollars.

Oh yeah the Jap Crap? I avoid those...
I'm not a collector but I love to read what collectors are collecting. :) I have never seen any of the ones you mentioned except Dallas when I went to visit my grandparents as a kid. That was a huge thing on Friday nights. Everything was scheduled around Dallas. :D

My mother absolutely loved the miniseries "Centennial". I believe she even gave me a copy as a present, but I never watched it. I saw it years ago, and it was pretty good, but I never understood why she thought it was so fantastic. She loved "Lonesome Dove" though, as did I.

Some might be huge and expensive, and they aren't my all time favorites necessarily, but I wouldn't mind having:
I Love Lucy
Carol Burnett Show
The Complete Tonight Show
Andy Griffith/Mayberry
Beverly Hillbillies
Bewitched
Get Smart
I Dream of Jeanie
Mork and Mindy
Cheers
M*A*S*H
Night Court
The Cosby Show
And that's just the sitcoms, my favorite genre.

Rog was haps. And Rerun could just bust it old school.
I learned all my moves in the early days from fattie...
I'd slap on some Sugarhill Gang and just roll.
i said a hip hop the hippie the hippie
to the hip hip hop, a you dont stop
the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie
to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat
now what you hear is not a test--i'm rappin to the beat
and me, the groove, and my friends are gonna try to move your feet
see i am wonder mike and i like to say hello
to the black, to the white, the red, and the brown, the purple and yellow
but first i gotta bang bang the boogie to the boogie
say up jump the boogie to the bang bang boogie
let's rock, you dont stop
rock the riddle that will make your body rock
well so far youve heard my voice but i brought two friends along
and next on the mike is my man hank
come on, hank, sing that song
check it out, i'm the c-a-s-an-the-o-v-a
and the rest is f-l-y
ya see i go by the code of the doctor of the mix
and these reasons i'll tell ya why
ya see i'm six foot one and i'm tons of fun
and i dress to a t
ya see i got more clothes than muhammad ali and i dress so viciously
i got bodyguards, i got two big cars
that definitely aint the wack
i got a lincoln continental and a sunroof cadillac
so after school, i take a dip in the pool
which really is on the wall
i got a color tv so i can see
the knicks play basketball
hear me talkin bout checkbooks, credit cards
more money than a sucker could ever spend
but i wouldnt give a sucker or a bum from the rucker
not a dime til i made it again
ya go hotel motel whatcha gonna do today (say what)
ya say im gonna get a fly girl gonna get some spankin
drive off in a def oj
everybody go, hotel motel holiday inn
say if your girl starts actin up, then you take her friend
master gee, am I mellow
its on you so what you gonna do
like a can of beer that's sweeter than honey
like a millionaire that has no money
like a rainy day that is not wet
like a gamblin fiend that does not bet
like dracula with out his fangs
like the boogie to the boogie without the boogie bang
like collard greens that dont taste good
like a tree that's not made out of wood
like goin up and not comin down
is just like the beat without the sound no sound
to the beat beat, ya do the freak
everybody just rock and dance to the beat
have you ever went over a friends house to eat
and the food just aint no good
i mean the macaroni's soggy the peas are mushed
and the chicken tastes like wood
so you try to play it off like you think you can
by sayin that youre full
and then your friend says momma he's just being polite
he aint finished uh uh that's bull
so your heart starts pumpin and you think of a lie
and you say that you already ate
and your friend says man there's plenty of food
so you pile some more on your plate
while the stinky foods steamin your mind starts to dreamin
of the moment that it's time to leave
and then you look at your plate and your chickens slowly rottin
into something that looks like cheese
oh so you say that's it i got to leave this place
i dont care what these people think
im just sittin here makin myself nauseous
with this ugly food that stinks
so you bust out the door while its still closed
still sick from the food you ate
and then you run to the store for quick relief
from a bottle of kaopectate
and then you call your friend two weeks later
to see how he has been
and he says i understand about the food
baby bubbah but we're still friends
with a hip hop the hippie to the hippie
the hip hip a hop a you dont stop the rockin
to the bang bang boogie
say up jump the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat
i say hank can ya rock
can ya rock to the rhythm that just dont stop
can ya hip me to the shoobie doo
i said come on
i go to the halls and then ring the bell
because i am the man with the clientele
and if ya ask me why i rock so well
a big bang, i got clientele
and from the time i was only six years old
i never forgot what i was told
it was the best advice that i ever had
it came from my wise dear old dad
he said sit down punk i wanna talk to you
and dont say a word until i'm through
now there's a time to laugh a time to cry
a time to live and a time to die
a time to break and a time to chill
to act civilized or act real ill
but whatever ya do in your lifetime
ya never let a mc steal your rhyme
so from sixty six til this very day
ill always remember what he had to say
so when the sucker mcs try to chump my style
i let them know that i'm versatile
i got style finesse and a little black book
that's filled with rhymes and i know you wanna look
but there's a thing that separates you from me
and that's called originality
because my rhymes are on from what you heard
i didnt even bite and not a god d--m word
and i say a little more later on tonight
so the sucker mc's can bite all night
a tick a tock yall a beat beat yall
a lets rock yall ya dont stop
ya go hotel motel whatcha gonna do today (say what)
ya say im gonna get a fly girl gonna get some spankin
drive off in a def oj
everybody go hotel motel holiday inn
ya say if your girl starts actin up then you take her friends
a like that yall to the beat yall
beat beat yall ya dont stop
a master gee am I mellow?
its on you so whatcha gonna do
well like johnny carson on the late show
a like frankie croker in stereo
well like the barkay's singin holy ghost
the sounds to throw down they're played the most

I think my television watching got "arrested" somewhere around the time Golden Grils went off the air. That's about the last time I can remember watching sit coms or dramas.
I also think that was also about the time cable came to town and I discovered A&E, History Channel, and Discovery Channel, etc., etc., etc., and gave up network television for reality television.
I need help with a title, and maybe someone can give me a clue:
A number of years ago, PBS ran a "Mysteries" series about a disgraced London detective [Scotland Yard, I guess], who got sent to Colonia Africa to run a small police force.
I can't remember the title --something about "Under the Sun" --and I've searched the PBS website, made phone calls, etc., and no one can tell me the title. I think there were four of five movies in the series. That's one collection I would buy if I could find the set.
I love the era of Colonial Africa, and the photography/visuals in the series were breathtaking, as well at the stories/plots very good.
Does anyone remember the series? Anyone other than me see it?

Hollywood has been doing that for years. Or they just refused to re-release them.

I don't have any multi-disk sets of any series, but I do have a wish list!
I WANT:
All the Star Trek's (every single series from beginning to end)
LOST
When Things Were Rotten
Moonlighting
Eureka (when they come out)
Firefly (I bought the movie, Serenity!)
Wonderfalls (if they ever put one out, I don't actually know how many episodes they filmed)
John Doe
There's more, but I just can't think of them right now, :smirky:

I will admit that I am a packrat by nature and an avid collector to boot.
I currently have the first 3 seasons of all the Star Trek Versions (Except Deep Yawn 9), Battlestar Galactica (the original), Planet of the apes (the movies and the TV Series), Monk, MASH, SLiders, Quantom LEap and 25 other old TV Series ranging from comdies to westerns.

Well since no channels anywhere near New Jersey carry Doctor Who anymore, that would be my dream DVD set, but it would be pretty near impossible, since the show ran for 27 seasons (!), not counting the new version that started in 2004 or 2005. But I do have the complete Key to Time set and the complete Trial of a Timelord set, and several VHS tapes of individual episodes.
I have all of Maigret (starred Michale Gambon) on VHS but not on DVD.
I have Due South, seasons 1 and 2, but would like the entire series, including when it was brought back after being cancelled the first time.
I have House, season 1, so far.
New York, a Documentary Film- 8 DVD set.
I have every Star Trek movie, and would like the entire original series on DVD, but that probably won't happen.
I have Space Precinct, complete series on DVD.
Also, Star Cops, complete series on DVD.
Twilight Zone, 2002 version with Forest Whitaker, complete series on DVD.
I would love to have the original on DVD also. But I have several tapes, from recording Twilight Zone marathons off TV. That's good for now.
I have a box set of 5 Godzilla movies, would love to have more.
I would also love to have a lot of, or all of, Get Smart, The Addams Family, The Adventures of Superman (George Reeves), Stargate SG1 and The X-Files on DVD. But I do have a ton of the last two taped off TV.
I also have 3 different versions of Mysterious Island on DVD, and a couple versions of it on VHS. Also a few versions of The Lost World on VHS, and at least 3 versions of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on VHS.
I have Night Stalker, the complete series on DVD (just came out). That was cancelled in the middle of a cliffhanger last year. I would love to have Kolchak: The Nightstalker, the complete series on DVD, but so far I just have several episodes on VHS.
I also collect Biblical/Jesus movies and miniseries. I have nearly every one, except for a handful of obscure and/or foreign ones, from The Life and Passion of Jesus Christ (1905) to The Ten Commandments (2006). Some on VHS, some on DVD, and some on both.
I also have almost every Cary Grant movie from Bringing up Baby to his last one, on VHS, mostly taped off TV.
I also have every Clint Eastwood movie from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, all the way to his last one, mostly taped off TV.
I would also love to have Fantasy Island, the newer version with Malcolm McDowell, the complete series on DVD, but so far I only have several episodes taped off TV, on VHS.
Well there's my unusual list. :)
Barry

I would also like to have the complete series of Law & Order on DVD, but that's another impossibility, I think, seeing as they are in season 16 now, or something. But I would settle for every episode with Detective Briscoe.

So YOU are the "other" viewer listed on the Nielsen rating, :smirky: . I actually LIKED the "new" Fantasy Island with Malcolm McDowell . . . it seemed to make more sense to me than the "old" one (and I actually liked and watched that one!) Why is it all the shows that are on the edge (in a GOOD way) are cancelled before ever getting a chance?
