Elapsed time between the conclusion of President Bush’s speech Monday night on the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the first Democratic charge that he had politicized the tragedy: 20 minutes.
White House reaction: an appearance of glee.
Next steps: to be determined by conditions on the ground.
With the White House having wrapped up the first phase of its all-out effort to gain control of this fall’s political narrative by casting the Iraq war as part of an epochal struggle against tyranny, both parties are confronting questions about their tactics as they head into the homestretch of the campaign.

I'm actually surprised they were able to hold their breath that long! Must be a record...

But even some Democrats said they winced when Senator Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, was among the first to criticize the president, allowing the White House, for one news cycle at least, to frame the debate as one between the two men.
Why am I not surprised?

Politicizing? Obviously the RAT assholes hope no one remembers the Paul Wellstone and Coretta King funerals that they exploited for brazen, shameless politicking.
If there's justice, their despicable conduct will bite their sorry asses on November 7.

The President asked the country for unity on the war. What did he get? The same old treacherous, treasonous bashing.:flame:

It's to be expected. Liberals are very consistent creaturess. One shouldn't expect something nice. In fact, it'd take a miracle for a liberal to unite with America...

Pelosi didn't take long did she?
“On the fifth anniversary of September 11, President Bush continued to try to justify the invasion of <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>Iraq </st1></st1:country-region>by drawing nonexistent links to the 9/11 attacks. To try to make partisan gain out of such tragedy dishonors all those we lost on September 11.
“In fact, the war in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>Iraq</st1> </st1:country-region>has made our effort to defeat terrorism and terrorists more difficult. Last night's speech demonstrated that the President will go to any lengths to distract attention from his failures in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>Iraq</st1>, </st1:country-region>which have diverted focus from the war on terrorism.
“Despite definitive and repeated findings that there were no ties between <st1:country-region w:st="on">Iraq</st1:country-region> and al Qaeda, a finding most recently echoed by the Republican-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee, the President and Vice President continue their misleading efforts to aggregate al Qaeda, Osama bin <st1><st1:city w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Laden</st1:city></st1:city>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Iraq</st1:country-region></st1>, and 9/11.
“The American people deserved an opportunity to grieve and come together as a nation last night. Instead, President Bush gave them partisan and inaccurate rhetoric.”
No ties? Good Lord, the hag needs a reality check....guess she missed the bin Laden video...
