A DRUNK Brit drowned in a hotel pool during a tragic birthday game to find out who could hold their breath the longest.

Richard Mamphey — celebrating his 24th — was declared the winner by pals before the horrific truth dawned on them.

Richard, from East London, had been drinking with 20 pals on the Greek island of Kos when they decided to take it in turns to see how long each could spend underwater.

He's definitely the winner. He's still holding his breath.

I never understood why anybody would drown himself in a pool, anyway. The tub's much better.

Yeah, but the chlorine in the water helps kill the germs.
