It is research that is guaranteed to delight men - and infuriate the women in their lives. A controversial new study has claimed that men really are more intelligent than women...

THIS woman is not going to get infuriated at all. I'm not one of those women who hyperventilates at the idea that there might be differences between men and women (and I'm not referring to the physical differences). Feminazis of course, will predictably run out of rooms, desperately trying to suppress vomiting. The ones who do not black out, that is. It is to be expected.
Having said that, I cannot help thinking that this study is flawed and too generic. And I'm basing this on simple observation.
What I'm trying to say is "Which men?" Because I couldn't possibly think of Michael Moore, Al Franken, Al Gore, Jesse Jackson, Ted Hic! Kennedy (make that, the entire Kennedy gang, seeing as how the only two with a smidgen of intelligence are dead), Dick Durbin, Sean Penn (a man who married Madonna, intelligent?), Hillary Clinton ... no, wait; that's allegedly a woman ... and to be fair, let's not forget our own: McCain, that sod that just got re-elected in Rhode Island, Warner, and all the other RINOs, as well as some leftist specimens who post here - as intelligent. Cunning, yes. Manipulating, yes. Conniving, yes. But not intelligent. And I don't care what "scientists" say.

Guys, at this point, the wisest thing to do is stay far, far away from the keyboard. Just shut up, savor the moment in silence and don't say anything that will prove this study to be wrong.

Based on the posters in FC, I'd have to say that among the conservative men and conservative women it's a tie. Moreover, the conservative posters are infinitely more intelligent than the lib posters.

Our baby Dylan already figured out how to wrap people around his little pinky and get the females to fawn over him. Yup, males are smarter. :)

Not that this study can't be true but how then does it explain the fact that 58% of college grads this year are women?

Education and intelligence are two different things. More women go to and graduate from college because they have fewer career options that they like in blue collar work. A guy can make a darn good living as a plumber (at least my plumber seems to make a darn good living off of me) but most women are not interested in becoming plumbers. I think college seems stifling to many men, so they don't go. (my theory)

Not to mention that some men go off for 2-year trade degrees in computers and IT and vehicle mechanics.

Intelligence is the ability to use correctly whatever knowledge you possess. I know more than a few college graduates who couldn't plan a trip to the toilet after a year of planning.

Fact: Men think more logically than women. Our thought processes are more focused, narrowing in on a subject like a hunter narrowing in on its prey.
Fact: Women are born multitaskers. Their conversations tend to be layered, often jutting off in several directions, then returning to the point. They are more attuned to gathering, talking to keep bears away while also concentrating on both the subjects at hand and the surrounding environment.
Fact: Intelligence tests measure the ability to think in clear, linear fashion to acheive the most logical conclusion. In other words, they test how effective you are in thinking like a man.
Conclusion: You can say with confidence that men are smarter than women and have test data to back you up. However, if those tests were construed to measure more abstract abilities and the ability to simultaneously work on several projects, in other words, to think like a woman, than women would test higher and there would be an entirely different headline.
Regardless, the point is moot. Men and women are different. Men validate their existence by what they are, women by who they are. It's silly to claim intellectual superiority when the fact is, after the man dies from a heart attack accumulating the riches of his lifetime, the woman gets it all. When, then, is smarter?

The explanation for that is the feminization of the American education system. Boys are turned off by that feminization and are left behind.

That's one explaination i suppose. However, if men were smarter, wouldn't they be able to do some sort of cost/benefit analysis and see that college is a better bet? Perhaps its some other innate trait in men/boys (aggessiveness, socialization against education etc) or women that explains it. I wonder the graduation rates in other nations....

I'm as serious as a heart attack. The feminization of the education system is a well documented fact. For more details, please read Women Who Make the World Worse by Kate O'Beirne, available at Amazon.com. For a summarization of those facts, see my review of her book (http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/showthread.php?t=35823&highlight=Kate+O%27Beirne).

... I'm not one of those women who hyperventilates at the idea that there might be differences between men and women...Dat's because you're damned near perfect...:kiss2:
Having said that, I cannot help thinking that this study is flawed and too generic. These kind of "studies" always are... They are carried out by sociology professors who are augmenting their regular salaries by obtaining government grants to use on meaningless research... All these "Men vs Women" studies rank right up there with the Cow Faltulence research...
What I'm trying to say is "Which men?"...Sean Penn (a man who married Madonna, intelligent?),Bwahahahaha:rotflmbo:
Hillary Clinton ... no, wait; that's allegedly a woman ....Ok Stop Stop!!! You have successfully caused me to snork Dr Pepper thru my nose... I hope you're happy!:biglaugh:
Guys, at this point, the wisest thing to do is stay far, far away from the keyboard. Just shut up, savor the moment in silence and don't say anything that will prove this study to be wrong. That was my first thought when I saw the thread... :D
Seriously? That's your answer? You're kidding right? What's wrong with it? Looks like a perfectly good and concise estimate of the situation... Besides all our universities have become diploma factories - It has nothing to do with education - its all about warm bodies and tuitions...
Simply measuring the number of women graduating is meaningless - take a look at the degrees they are earning... If female graduates outnumber males, but 90% of those females are earning degrees in journalism or "women's studies" and 90% of the males are earning degrees in Engineering or Chemistry, how much realistic value does your superior female stats have on real life contributions to society?
Lubbock has the truth of it... Regardless of how much Liberals hate the idea, God wired men and women differently... Certainly there are some incredibly intelligent women and some utterly stupid men (examples of both can be found on this very forum)... But to compare the two genders on the basis of IQ is a waste of energy... Its like comparing the Intel chip to the AMD chip... The comparison is difficult because they process information differently...

Not that this study can't be true but how then does it explain the fact that 58% of college grads this year are women? The study wasn't about education, but I'm guessing the 58% figure might have something to do with how many males and females actually enrolled and completed their coursework. I could be wrong.

Had the study shown an average IQ point difference of 10 to 20 points higher than women, THEN I might say men are smarter than women. But an average of 3-4 points..?
Doesn't seem like al that big a difference.
Unless I'm being a total woman and I'm misinterpreting the data... **ducks with a smirk**
