Today Show Invites on 'Legendary' Jane Fonda to Promote New Radio Network

Posted by Geoffrey Dickens (http://newsbusters.org/user/7) on September 12, 2006 - 16:16.

http://newsbusters.org/media/2006-0912-NBCTodayFonda.jpgJane Fonda, Rosie O'Donnell and Gloria Steinem team up for a new radio network and NBC's Today, not surprisingly, is ready to promote it. The Today show invited on the "legendary Jane Fonda," as Ann Curry called her, to plug the new Women's Radio Network (http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2006/09/gloria-steinem-greenstone-media-new.html)this morning. In fact the Today cast couldn't contain their excitement for the "sometimes controversial" activist.Curry: "By the way Jane Fonda, you look great. You look marvelous."Lauer: "Yikes! She looks fantastic doesn't she? I don't think she can hear us otherwise she'd be saying thank you."

After he was done gushing over her looks, Lauer eventually got around to asking about her latest project, but he didn't blink when she claimed her new network with Gloria Steinem and Rosie O'Donnell has "no political agenda" at all:Lauer: "Let's talk about women for a second, okay."Jane Fonda: "Yes, thank you."Lauer: "You're starting the Women's Radio Network and a statistic that I found kind of, kind of startling. Women ages 25 to 54 listen to 10 percent less radio today than they did just seven years ago. Why is that?"Fonda: "Women are leaving radio because radio has left women. 95 percent of radio programmers are men. 85 percent of general managers in radio are men. In order to know how to program for your audience, you have to look like your audience. You have to live like your audience, you have to empathize with your audience and men just don't know how to do it so this is the first all-women-owned, women-managed radio."Lauer: "So what are you going to present in terms of content? Is this gonna be like Lifetime television was years ago? Is this lifestyle, relationship, romance or is this politics? What is this? What's, what's it gonna be?"Fonda: "It's gonna be everything. We, we did, last fall in '05 we did some very interesting research, very extensive research and women, number one they want current events including global issues for women. They want to laugh and laugh, laugh doesn't mean fluff. Laugh can be healing. Laugh, laugh is what you do when something really touches a chord with you. Laugh is, can laugh of recognition. Women want to laugh and our, and our first morning drive talk is three women stand-up comics that are also very smart and can talk about current events and be funny about it."Lauer: "But let me mention, so you're on the board of this. By, you're not planning on doing any on-air stuff right now? Maybe?"Fonda: "Well I want to do a regular, once-a-week appearance, yeah."Lauer: "Okay but right now you're behind the scenes board member. Gloria Steinem is on the board of this, Rosie O'Donnell. People may look at those names and say there's a political agenda here?" (DUH-UH!!!)Fonda: "All they have to do is listen to our radio and they'll and they'll know that there is no political agenda, (HAH!!!) www.greenstonemedia.net (http://www.greenstonemedia.net). We're streaming and you can hear us and really women across the board, conservative women as well as liberal women and men have found something that the like on our shows."

What a stupid, stupid bitch. She certainly does NOT speak for me. :flame:

I listen to talk show because of content, not because of the managers' gender.

In order to know how to program for your audience, you have to look like your audience.

Heaven help me, bitch. If I ever looked like you do now, just shoot me.

You have to live like your audience,

Uh-huh. Yeah. Jane Fonda lives like the woman in Ohio, who has three kids, and two jobs to make ends meet. Sure. Anything you say, bitch.

... you have to empathize with your audience and men just don't know how to do it so this is the first all-women-owned, women-managed radio."

Yeah. I'll call her show and tell her I am an anti-abortion, pro-gun, pro-military, Christian conservative woman. Let's see how much this bitch "empathizes" with me.

Fonda: "It's gonna be everything. We, we did, last fall in '05 we did some very interesting research, very extensive research and women, number one they want current events including global issues for women.

Wrong, you communist cow. When I listen to the radio, I want to hear about issues that affect EVERYONE, men, women and children. I want to hear about the economy, about national security, about the danger that Islamofascism is for the world. Not just depressing news about breast cancer and lesbian weddings.

They want to laugh and laugh, laugh doesn't mean fluff. Laugh can be healing. Laugh, laugh is what you do when something really touches a chord with you.

So tell me, bitch. When we watch Islamofascists saw the head off an American journalist, are we supposed to laugh at it? Is that what's going to "heal" us? When we watch a 9/11 video, are we supposed to laugh in order to feel "healed"?

And after that, this communist old hag expects people to take her seriously?!

Laugh is, can laugh of recognition. Women want to laugh and our, and our first morning drive talk is three women stand-up comics that are also very smart and can talk about current events and be funny about it."

Oh, wonderful. Start your day listening to a lesbian comedian tell jokes. I can't wait.

But this is not fluff. Oh, no. We all know that Jane Fonda is so serious. So enlightened.

I've got news for you, Giggles. Laughter is always abundant in the mouth of idiots. I guess that fits you like a glove.

You know what is the most unfair thing, the greatest injustice? That good, patriotic, selfless, brave men die so that this communist bitch can live and pollute the air with her communist ideas and her fluffy radio program. That's the greatest injustice of all. :flame:

How thrilling!!! Rich old liberal hags on radio!!!

As a woman, let me say I'm deeply offended by these persons claiming to speak for women. :flame:

As Dave would say, "These aren't women... they're woetomens!"

I love the name choices: Airhead America and Girls Gone Vile.

Yeah. And she says that men also like her show. We all know what kind of "men" those are. :limp:

Yeah the same men who tune in for the days' topics of sex anywhere, anytime, and use abortion for the consequences.

Liberals have NEVER succeeded in talk radio and they never will. They have no substance, no content, nothing that will hold listeners. The twits may be "famous", but fame doesn't guarantee ratings.

Libs don't know the first thing about the demands of talk radio. They will not succeed by parroting what is already blasted from every DBM outlet 24/7. Rush, Hannity, Savage et al are successful because they offer conservative alternatives to the tsunami of liberal sewage that gushes from the DBM all day, every day.

But, the dizzy bitches are welcome to waste their time, money and effort in trying to do what all their predecessors have failed to to: compete in the arena of ideas. Hatred of President Bush and strident anti-war screeds wear thin immediately.

"Jane, you ignorant slut," you should get down on your weak knees and thank whatever god you believe in that the US did not deal with your treason as it did with the Rosenbergs.

These biddies will go the way of all liberals on talk anything. Liberals don't know how to speak interestingly. They're all caught up in how things look, and appeal to others like themselves. That don't come across much on radio, where you gots to get your mind off yourself in order to think about what's coming over the waves.

The problem is we don't need another "The View" on radio. That's tired. It's been done and isn't entertaining. We need more Rush. Rush's view is is mine 98% of the time and I'm not male. If Ingraham, Malkin, and Dr. Laura put on a radio show, it would be IMMENSELY entertaining.

Apparently some armed forces wear this patch. I luv it!

Diane, Laura does have a radio talk show. I'm listening to it right now.

I wish Ann Coulter had one. Can you imagine what a hoot that would be.

Now Doc, you're being to hard on the ladies. They just want to laugh. You know. Like Cindy Lauper said: "Girls just wanna have fun." Of course, that laughter is going to be prompted by stale, old jokes about George Bush, but hey, that's how the ladies are going to "heal" themselves from the two last fiascos that democrats faced at the ballots. Twice in a row, that is.
