Kerry says the only reason he didn’t compete in more states in 2004 was that he ran out of money. He says this was also the reason he did not adequately respond to a series of devastating TV ads by Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, a group that questioned Kerry’s service in Vietnam and criticized his later opposition to the war.

“They had money behind the lies, and we did not have sufficient money behind the truth,” Kerry laments.

Asked if he dreads the prospect of being “Swift-Boated” all over again, Kerry counters that he would relish such a fight.

“I’m prepared to kick their ass from one end of America to the other,” he declares. “I am so confident of my abilities to address that and to demolish it and to even turn it into a positive.”

It is a little difficult to imagine Kerry (“I voted for it before I voted against it”) kicking the most decorated living serviceman, Bud Day, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, or our salty commander, Adm. Roy Hoffman, anywhere. Perhaps Kerry had in mind using a “Rice Fanny Grenade” as he did by mistake on himself shortly before leaving Vietnam. If so, based on the record, he is in far more danger than anyone else.

When Kerry spoke at the DNC, saluted, and said “..reporting for duty” I knew it was over for him. Had Kerry been smart (instead of arrogant) he would have come right out and admitted that he put in false reports for purple hearts so he could get out of Vietnam in 3 months. At least that would have been honest.

Instead he tried to portray himself as a war hero and everybody that served under him or in his chain of command knew better.

I would never question a vet’s medals – but when they wave them around like a cheap prop for political gain proclaiming themselves living war heroes– then those medals damn well better have been earned.

If Sen. Kerry runs again, I think that every conservative in the country should put a "Show us the proof, Senator!" sticker on their car.
