View Full Version : Can anyone spot the hypocrisy?
"I don't try to wear religion on my sleeve for political gain; that would be wrong."

I find it absolutely disgusting that Democrats are using religion for political gain, especially after all of the finger pointing and accusations against the religious right.
Those on the right actually ARE religious. Those on the left are obviously feigning religion for political gain (either that, or there has been one massive revival occuring this year!)
I haven't seen a politician yet that doesn't use religion as a political prop. Both parties are guilty of this.

Oh please.
Amazing how the Left is suddenly becoming so religious, after they realized that it was the Christians who fueled Bush's last victory.
Funny thing though....I can't think of a single Conservative Christian who would vote for a Democrat whether they profess religion or not....so I think they are wasting their time warming the pews at whatever churches they are using for their props.

One's sincere, one's exploitative, want more contrast/comparison?
Notice Baron Hill downplays his party affiliation.
"The change Hossier families need...."
Choice of words deliberate, huh? Bolding the word "change", using the word "Hoosier" to make him come of as down-home, "families" for the middle-class voters, and "need" to project a sense of urgency.
I haven't seen a politician yet that doesn't use religion as a political prop.
Note that I'm not criticizing Baron Hill for using his alleged faith as a "political prop". I'm criticizing Hill for saying he would not use religion for political gain and then doing it.
The issue is not one of religion in politics: the issue is hypocrisy.

It looks like he's failing in basic prayer 101...

5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

I love this:
Strong Hoosier Family values to Washington
A family man with deep religious convictions. Baron will bring back the values our government really needs these days. Honesty, Responsibility, and Faith
Er....what happened to SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE that the libs are always blathering about? He's going to bring FAITH to our government? Wha...?
I am curious though....in the blurb on his homepage, he said that marriage between a man and woman is sacred. Does this mean he is against gay marriage?

Baron voted against the Marriage Protection Act that would put an end to the practice of federal judges deciding gay marriage issues for states. HR 3313 (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:h.r.03313:)

Ah.....more hypocrisy!
I have met Baron Hill a couple times. I saw him again on campus a week and a half ago. When I saw him, I said that I had been reading the Web site CitizensForTruth.com
He didn't like that very much.
He then asked something to the effect of "Don't you have a web site attacking me too?" I said, yes, I do.
I don't think that I am ex-Congressman Hill's favorite person these days.

Bug, your moral equivalency bleatings are getting tiresome. Really tiresome.
The difference is that conservatives ARE religious. Liberal/democrats only PRETEND to be. You want proof? In spite of their "religiousness" they still support abortion on demand (Kerry, et al), they still babble "I don't feel comfortable with prayer" (Howard Dean), they still pretend the myth of "separation of church and state" is in the constitution, when it was only in a letter from Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists, and was only made into the law of the land by an activist judge. And you liberal fools lap it up like it was carrot juice.
So don't come here babbling moral equivalency, do yourself the last favor.

Minor point...I'm not religious, but I am very spiritual...as are you, from what I can gather from your posts. The Holy Spirit dwells within us.
Conservatives take their beliefs to heart and those beliefs resonate with the VAST majority of Americans.
Liberals are also spiritual...but, their spirit is corrupted and therefore, so are their beliefs. That is why they must "fake it". Their corrupted beliefs are recognized by the American people, also...and are shunned.

One more point...the Christian faith and the party platform of the democrats is quite incompatable...in fact, they are diametric opposites.
Christ values ALL life...dems don't
Christ states marriage is one man, one woman...dems disagree
Christ says homosexuality is an abomination...dems vehemently disagree
etc ad nauseum
I do hope the American public is still blessed with enough common sense to recognize a charlatan when it sees one. If not, we're screwed.
The Democrats are worse than Republicans when they invoke religion, because the Democrats don't even believe what they say.

And so many Democrats are Catholics who support abortion rights. Last I checked, abortion was outlawed in the Catholic church. They need to pick their party or their religion but they can't have both!

Ilooked at that geeb's ad. Why does he have all of that dirt on his face?
And so many Democrats pretend to be Catholics
Fixed!
Baron Hill said on the radio today that Nancy Pelosi is a good woman with good values.

PPPPppffffffttttttt!!!!! He owes me a keyboard!!!
The left will do or say anything to get elected ... and they did, and the dopey voters bought it. Recently they've just been trying to sew up loose ends feigning their respect for religion. Liberalism is their religion.

Liberals do this every election like clockwork. Lying, conceited, arrogant, condescending hypocrites that they are. No surprise here.
