Okay y'all -- he did it! My son is scheduled to graduate (early!) from his dual enrollment program at the college in December! I had him set to participate in high school graduation for homeschool, and then checked with the local high school, he could graduate in either venue -- but he's refusing. I have put my blood, sweat, and tears into educating this kid, and I want a graduation!! http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/icon8.gif

I talked with another mother, and we came up with the idea of a graduation party for the two of them (they are best friends). So now, I'm soliciting ideas for the party, :smirky: !

We thought we'd have it catered by Sonny's BBQ (cause the boys love that. It's going to be held either at my MIL's house (big house, lots of property, lot's of room) -- or the city Municipal Building (my MIL is the city clerk, and can get the building for us).

I thought I would make a video of pics from the past 18 years, showing how far he's come and have that playing on the telly.

Anyone else have any party suggestions??

(NO alcohol! He's only 17! http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/icon7.gif )

BTW, a side note: He was picked (the only one!) to represent the college in a welding contest in February, where he could win a scholarship for the Master Welder's program! His instructor called him "the Micheal Jordan of Welding!" :smirky:

Well, you could make a really big cake and have a hot babe pop out of it.......
Just kidding!

Seriously though, Congrats to your son and to you, Mom, for your hard work in helping him get there. I have mixed feeling on the video thing though. He might feel, well, embarassed. Of course, he's your kid so you know him better than I do.

Hi!!! Congrats!!!

Honestly, I can't blame him. If I didn't attend high school with the other children, I wouldn't want to attend the graduation.

A party sounds like a great way to mark the accomplishment. How about playing his favorite movies with lots of  ?

See if you can get the boys from Orange County Choppers to show up. Tell them your son's story and they may just get all teared up and decide to get out of the shop and take a road trip down there. People like the Toutles like to do this kind of thing and you may just get lucky.

Boy FS, if it were that easy, I would DEFINITELY do that! We are faithful American Chopper watchers . . . my son is completely fascinated by the welding when they are putting those machines together. Wouldn't that be the bomb if I could get them to come to the party! Wow! Wonder if they read their own fan mail/e-mail  . Perhaps if I sent them his story, they might send him a souvenir, hmmmm. Now that's a thought.

"Thanks for the email, but we don't do that." OTH, you may get a "Hey, we're going to be at a show that week and we've got that evening free. We'd love to come and support a young man who's rising above the crowd and showing what excellence can accomplish." Take it to the top, homes, maybe they'll just send Mikey or a box of autographed OCC hats, but unless you ask, you'll never know.
