Tied for the best record in the league with the Tigers, the Yankees have clinched the division and are healthy heading into the playoffs. They have 2 games against Baltimore and 3 against Toronto to finish the year off.

The interesting thing is that Minnesota could wind up winning the Division and Detroit would get the Wild Card. This sets up a couple scenarios. If the Yankees finish with the best record then they play the wild card team either Minnesota or Detroit. Or if Detroit and or Minnesota gets the best record then it would be Minnesota vs Detroit and Yankees vs Oakland. That is the most agreeable to me because I would rather play Oakland meanwhile Detroit and Minnesota knock each other off.

The other side note for you Red Sox fans......wow what a depressing second half of the season. 11.5 back and possibly going to finish 3rd while Toronto may take second (.5 back). Better luck next year:thumb:

AL West Oakland
AL Central Detroit/Twins
AL East New York
AL Wild Card Twins/Detroit.

Oakland will lose to Twins or NYY easily without a doubt, they'll get a break if they play detroit.

Twins vs Yankees is gonna be a close call.
Randy Johnson is not the same pitcher he was last year. He's holding a 5.00 ERA and a sore back.

Wang has a ERA of 3.57 but has 72 Strike outs in 212 innings pitched which is very low but regardless he doesnt allow much runs which is good.

Mussina Is holding also a 3.57 and 168 strikeouts which is very good but his season has been hit with injuries. NYY has to hope their pitching can stay alive for the post season without any more injuries. With that in mind that can beat the twins. A-Rod is not gonna be much help in the postseason.

Twins have the best pitcher of the year: Johan Santana 2.77 ERA and 245 Strikeouts and 19 wins and 6 losses. This guy is dominating and is something the yankees are gonna have to watch out for.

Twins also have the best base hitter with .349 avg Mauer and they also got J. Morneau who has a .325 avg and 34 HRs. Still though the yankees have Jeter and Cano who hold the #2 and #3 spots in AL batt Avg.

Sure, Buff, rub salt into the wound!:flame:
Remember, it's Yankee fans that make me hate em' so much, NOT the team.

I am with you on that. The yankees are the most hated team nation wide at least among people in Red States and Boston area. My dad talked to a Red Sox fan last night and he said he likes Anaheim also because they hold the best current record against the yankees:D.

Next year Angels and Red Sox are gonna be badass.
Ortiz and Shilling will be healed up and ready for a new year.:thumb:
Anaheim has made it clear money is no issue and will likely sign Miguel Tejada and/or Soriano. Next year Jered Weaver who went 11-2 his rookie year and very low ERA of 2.50 will start his full season next year. Jered is a future Cy Young winner and we got K-Rod who is the next Mariano.

I'm a life long Detroit Tigers fan and I still say the Yanks over the Tigers in three. After the first week of August the Tigers did nothing less than collapse; it wasn't a "slump" as so many have called it. The front office has more work to do before the Tigers will be a legitimate contender. Better that the Yanks make them look like paper tigers so that the message gets sent loud and clear to the Illichs: try again because you need a little more talent, and that's going to cost a little more money.
