Oil is below $59.00 a barrel. The Dow is at an all time high. Democrats and Capitol Hill contemplate suicide and leaving a note saying it's Bush's fault. Don't laugh. Sean Penn used that as his excuse for smoking. How dare the economy do so well.

Sir George in the form of Republican Foley rides to the rescue ready to impale himself on his sword. He sent suggestive e-mails to some young senate pages. That's not bad enough. Seriously. In the great scheme of things, a few e-mails from a well known homosexual is worth a media passing mention. The mill grinds on and he's a child molester. The leap from cyber sex to penetration was made in the course of a few hours at best. It's a good thing too. Otherwise the democrats would have nothing to wring their hands over.

The Foley Matter is a democrat dream come true in the down times when things are going really well. Had Foley been disciplined by republicans it would have been gay bashing. After all, the talking heads might muse, he was only trying to mentor young gay men and help them explore their deeply hidden feelings. He never touched one. Homosexuals are not child molesters as we are often told.

It might persuade a democrat or two to believe in God.

It's a non-issue. Who cares? Virtually nobody. A perv wound up getting exposed(no pun intended) and the Dems are running around squealing about it. Within a week it'll be a forgotten issue for most(or virtually all) Americans except those Dems busy trying to convince themselves it will help their chances.

Just remember that the Abramoff "scandal" would destroy the GOP. Poll a hundred people today and probably 90-plus of them will not recognize the name.

It is glaringly apparent that the RATs are frantically searching for something that will spare them the political suicide of running on their record. Their "October surprise" shtick became old new years ago, but they're too bloody stupid to realize that it didn't work before. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. And the RATs are utter loonies.

Note to Howard "EEEAAARRRGGGHHH!" Dean: I have found the perfect locale for your new DNC headquarters.

I wouldn't emphasize the Dow too much. The market is due for a correction, and likely before the elections.

Fall is a typical lull time for oil as well. It will go back up, maybe as much as 30 to 40%.

Kathy, while I agree with the title to your post, I would not stop at Foley.

Republicans answered the dems' prayers. This hysterical beating their breast and tearing at their hair is going on for too long.

I understand that we must make it clear (though I don't know how much clearer) that we are different from democrats. That's all good and well. But the way to do it is simply to say "This is not good, it's not decent. Foley is out. We're sorry and ashamed about it." And leave it at THAT.

All this frantic running amok, like chickens with their head off, asking for all heads to roll, shouting "Jail him! Nail him! Kill him!" looks silly. It does not look right (remember Shakespeare? "Me thinks the lady doth protest too much?"), it plays right in the hands of democrats, and most important of all, it distracts attention from democrats' NO-PLAN for any solution to the country's problems, except to say "We'll do it better than republicans."

If I had any clout, I'd smack all these imbecile 'pubs upside the head and tell them to control themselves and try to behave in a more dignified manner. And CLOSE the blinking case.

I had some strong words with my friend the radio show host, this morning (on the air). He was going through the whole shebang, moaning and putting ashes on his head, and bleating about "the damage done to the child" and demanding everybody's head on a platter. Incidentally, how come the same 16 year-old, who's judged as an adult if he commits a crime, has this sudden regression to infancy when found corresponding with a perv? But I digress.

Anyway, he gave me the tired line: "We are not like democrats." Who said we are? Anyone with the presence of mind not to vote for democrats is by default better than democrats and those who vote for them.

But gassing on, hour after hour, about how we are not like them reminds me of those who want to avoid facing the enemy by constantly bleating "we are not like them."

So enough already. Let's close this case and re-start the debate on solutions to the country's problems, and put all this tawdry scandalmongering behind.

And I take particular umbrage at the way they are letting the liberal/democrat pot call the republican kettle black. That should NOT be tolerated.:flame:

FWIW, I applaud you for speaking in favor of taking the political "high road" here as it were. Personally I'm embarrassed by the Democrats trying to milk this. (On the other hand, the Democrats embarass me on a regular basis)

Both sides have people with skeletons in their closet. It's unwise for either to go to extremes of indignance over personal scandals.

It's true that both sides have their degree of corruption, gnome. It is also true that it's democrats who are the ones who always try to milk the opposition's faults to their advantage.

I wish Republicans were as ruthless.

The party of radical homosexual activists, NAMBLA members, is not going to be able to come off as morally superior over this, recent history alone will see to that.

If anything, it will suppress turnout, five weeks is a long time in an election.

Some Republicans are becoming ruthless, if you think dredging up 26-year-old scandals fits that description.

I don't know whether I agree or disagree, Maggie.

Why can't the Republicans go on the offense and make it clear how this whole thing came to be exposed?

Just once, why can't the Republicans expose the Democrats for what they are?

Why do we have to keep taking it on the chin?

Maggie_T

Oh, if it's a matter of going on the offensive, by all means, go for it.

The problem is they haven't and they won't. Instead of doing that, Republicans have been beating themselves to a pulp, and calling for heads to roll. Read my first post again, Lub. I said Republicans should put an end to this silliness. They should have tut-tutted in disapproval, kicked Foley out ... and closed the forking case. Then, they should have gone on the offensive, and exposed democrats.

Did they do that? Because if they did, they must have been very secretive about it. Either that, or I was not paying attention.

Add to that the fact that Republicans have the drive-by media totally against them and you get the picture.

No, 'pubs blew it ... again. They seem to have a death wish, these bloody fools. Maybe Mike Savage is right after all. These morons can't do anything right.

From your lips to God's ears.

If anything, it will suppress turnout, five weeks is a long time in an election.

So far, the only indication of suppressed turnout seems to come from Republicans. I'm up till here with hearing them huff and puff on the radio about how indignant they are, and how they are going to vote democrat to "punish Republicans."

Some Republicans are becoming ruthless, if you think dredging up 26-year-old scandals fits that description.

No, it doesn't. I thought we were "not like them (democrats)." This should not become a mud-slinging contest. I'll say it again. 'Pubs should have kicked Foley out, made it public, and then, instead of distracting the FBI from their more pressing duty of keeping the country safe, they should have said: "And now, the GOP will conduct an investigation on this lamentable affair." Period. And then, when the drive-by media started barking, 'pubs should have gone of the offensive.

For the love of Mary, why is that so hard to understand? Even I get it. Instead, what we are getting is a panic-driven "Get the FBI! ... Investigate! ... Make the records public! ... Oh, please try to understand how much we differ from democrats! ... Look how we bend over backwards to prove our morality!" It's pathetic. It's undignified. And it's unconvincing.

I'm anxiously waiting for Ann Coulter to comment on this. I have a hunch that she will be the only one who will put this silliness into the correct perspective. I hope she won't disappoint me.

Democrats and prayers in the same sentence? Is that like George W. Bush and competently waged military actions?

Did anyone listen to Hannity this afternoon? I caught just a bit of it as I was coming from grandson's kindergarten. Hannity was talking about a network of homosexual activists on Capitol Hill --aides and staffers to Congressmen, and what sounded to me like a conspiracy among them to damage the Rpublicans --even though a good many of them are employed by Republican Congressmen.

Hannity was reading what sounded like memos or e-mails that had passed among them [the homos], talking about how Foley was going to be exposed.

Both sides have people with skeletons in their closet. It's unwise for either to go to extremes of indignance over personal scandals. The difference is that the RAT party has nothing to use to recommend that voters choose them. Their campaign for six years has been the demonizing of Christians, the promotion of perversion, the destruction of President Bush, the denigration of the US military, and the selling out of America to its enemies.

There is not one positive thing that can be said about the RAT bastards. NOT ONE! Because of that, the only thing they have left is ceaseless, hate-driven attacks. It is my fondest wish that the GOP gains seats in November, causing the RATs to finish their slide into insanity and hasten their political suicide. They are vermin, parasites. They need to be exterminated.

And the only thing that is going to make your fondest wish come true, Doc, is if the Republicans fight back.

So far, I don't see it happeneing.

FACTS! Why can't the Republicans just go on the offense with the damned FACTS?!?

So far from what I've seen of AC, she's quitely amused by the whole thing.

The timing has Soros and ABC News fingerprints all over it. There's many indicators that they sat on this story - if so, they leaked it too early because it was at the end of the session. There's even accusations that liberal bloggers loaded the gun and handed it to a page.

The Democrats can try to pretend moral indignation, they still don't have the high ground.

What exactly is it that Hastert saw that he supposedly should have acted on?

DoctorDoom
10-04-2006, 07:43 PM
Probably nothing, but the RATs seldom if ever base accusations and demands on anything of substance. In their philosophy, the seriousness of the charge is all that matters. Truth is irrelevant.

There's an election coming up, and RATs put their bullshit factory on overtime every two years. And of course the PUBs sit with vacant smiles and try to be liked.

This is the typical DC Republican of today.

Isn't that what they did? How can they go on the offensive on this issue?

Easily. They could say what Ann Coulter just said on Hannity and Colmes: liberals go livid at the thought of tapping Al Qaida members's e-mails and phone calls, but they screech that they want to tap everthing about Foley, they want all the records, everything.

They could also ask how come when Blow Job Bubba was going to be impeached, liberals shrugged his shenanigans off as "It's just sex," and now they are all shocked, shocked I tell you, about a fag sending "overly-friendly" messages (NOT having physical sex with him, not even diddling with a cigar) with a page.

Oh, give me a break. The thing that really makes my blood boil about this whole farce is the sanctimonious, self-righteous, pharisaical hysteria from the party of same sex marriage, NAMBLA, the ACLU (defenders of NAMBLA), GLAAD, If-it-feels-good-do-it, and let's-lower-the-age-of-consent-to-12. Pick a sex offender - any variety, the more heinous, the better - try to bring him to justice, and watch liberal/democrats go balistic and start howling about "rights" and "society has no right to take revenge," and other idiocies typical of their ideology.

I have HAD it with liberals' selective morality. I have MORE than had it with their double standards. I am up till here with their dirty tricks and smear campaigns every time an election approaches.

They never will have the higher ground. All they have is double standards. When it's their guy who screws up, "Oh, it's only sex." When a Republican screws up, all hell breaks loose and liberals suddently become more prudish than a Victorian grandmother.

This is just more politics of personal destruction, lowest-common-denominator political posturing, transparent.

In other words: it's democrats up to their old tricks, trying to make up for their lack of a plan to "lead" the country. They will milk this cow dry just to avoid talking about their lack of ... everything, including morals, honor, etc.

Liberals make me sick. They are nature's worst F***-up. :flame:
