Well I thought I would try to downplay that last poll with another one.
I think its obviously the Tigers this year. Their bullpen and starting pitching is too dominate right now for the NL to even have a chance. Only thing they got to worry about is beating the A's.

I voted for the Tigers although I am biased having been a fan all my life. In another thread I said that the Yanks would most likely throttle them; I was completely off. Still, they gave reason to doubt them as they stunk from about August 6th on and were swept by Kansas City on the last weekend to lose the division title. Perhaps when they built that ten game division lead they didn't know how to handle the success, perhaps were bored, and now they're recharged for the playoff season.
Pitching is always key so we'll see if the strong pitching they showed once again against the Yanks holds up in the next series.

I'm going with the Tigers as I have family out that way. In any case, if Oakland goes for the AL, I'll still pick the A.L. team for one reason, both teams have much better pitching and good pitching will always beat good hitting.

good pitching will always beat good hitting.
2001: Randy Johnson(Big Unit) + Curt Shilling vs Derek Jeter + Jason Giambi = Diamondbacks win the world series.
2002: Frankie Rodriquez(K-Rod) + Troy Percival vs Barry Bonds + Reggie Sanders = Anaheim wins the world series.
2004: Curt Shilling + Pedro Martinez vs Albert Pujols + Jim Edmonds = RedSox win the world series.
Pitching does seem to be a bigger factor then hitting.
Randy and Curt shutdown the yankees lineup in 01, K-Rod and Troy shutdown the Barry Bonds(Giants) with their powerfull bullpen combo in 02, Curt and Pedro shutdown the cardinals Pujols and Edmonds in 04.
However in 05 Roy Oswalt and Roger Clemens(The Rocket) couldnt shutdown the whitesox.
Whats sad:sad: is all the current great great pitchers are falling into retirement soon.
Mariano Rivera has like 2-3 years left. Curt Shilling has maybe 2 years left. Randy Johnson has 1 year left. Greg Maddux is probally finished or maybe 1 more year. Roger Clemens has maybe 1-2 years left in him. Mike Mussina probally 2-3 years left.
The new and current stars with lots of time left are: Johan Santana, Chris Carpenter, Francisco Liriano, Jered Weaver, John Lackey, Chien Ming Wang, Barry Zito, Chris Young, Franciso Rodriquez(closer), Jered Verlander, Joe Nathan(closer), Roy Oswalt, Kelvim Escobar, C Sabathia, Roy Holliday. Theres alot of talent out there and most of them the yankees dont have.

Give it time. Steinbrenner will buy some of them, too!

I have to pull for the Cards because that was my dad's favorite team.
I haven't followed baseball since the days of Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson, so any interest I have is purely sentimental.

At least the Yankees didn't make it. That made the WS all the better.
