After taking the children into a bedroom, the woman loaded a 7mm hunting rifle and returned to the back door, where the bear had pawed the screen door and broken the door frame.

When the bear looked away from the door, Henslee said her sister opened the door slightly and shot twice, killing the bear instantly.

Yeah, but how long till the PETA gang starts bellyaching about this?

(Note that this is northern Idaho, where the local PETA association could probably meet in a phone booth with room to spare.)

I'll bet some clown from the authorities sooner or later is going to chime in and berate the babysitter for not using a non-lethal method of neutralizing the bear, and eventually try to press charges against her.

They'll probably make a big show of NOT pressing charges, but still try to plant doubt as to whether they'll let any future incidents go unprosecuted.
