View Full Version : Police to muzzle dog squads for fear of being sued
Police dogs are being muzzled to stop them biting and injuring suspected criminals, it emerged yesterday.
The policy, devised by North Wales Police, comes as a result of increased compensation claims from members of the public who have been bitten by police dogs.
Officers say the toothless tactic provides a safer way to tackle unco-operative offenders, and it may soon be adopted by dog squads across the country.
But critics say it is another example of political correctness gone mad - putting the rights and safety of criminals before cutting crime and protecting the public.
Rather than biting suspects, the dogs have instead been trained to disable their targets by leaping at them and delivering a flying 'head-butt'.

That's like me putting my knife into its sheath and going after a psycho who's armed with a razor-sharp knife. I really really wish these politically-correct candy asses would become victims of their own stupidity. Maybe some lengthy time in the intensive care unit for being mugged by the assholes they are trying hard to protect will enlighten them.

The very reason the dogs are so effective is the crooks are more afraid of the dogs biting them than the crooks fear armed police.

This is possibly one of the worst ideas ever. It's like saying "Fido is fluffy and harmless... have at me!"

Of late the UK has all but shackled the police. I foresee a strong, adverse reaction amongst the uniformed coppers as the wankers in the government render them powerless. The bullshit of the police being told that the welfare and safety of criminals is more important than enforcing the law is going to come back to bite the government in the ass.

And in the short-term this just puts the dogs' lives at risk... Police dogs fearlessly go into places and situations that are too dangerous for police to go - now they are taking the dogs' only weapon away, but their nature will still send them into harm's way...
Brilliant! Political Correctness in the UK has gone insane... One wonders if reason and common sense will ever return to that nation...
It would be better if they simply eliminated the canine squads... I'd rather see that than see these noble creatures hurt because of the arrogance and insanity of the government...

I'm amazed that the British people are taking this. Really, this is the same people who stood up to the Nazis! Or should it be IS this the same people who stood up to the Nazis! I can't believe that it is. Where are the people, the British? Why are they allowing this to happen to them?
I should talk. I live in the US, where the people are allowing much the same thing to happen here.

I agree. The animals should be given good homes and the whole canine squad ended. All a criminal has to do to that muzzled nose is hold it tightly and the dog is dead.

The police of Great Britain where the politically correct morons have managed to take hold should be given new orders on how to go after criminals. Male and female, stick both thumbs up their butts, so that they cannot accidentally hurt a scumbag while giving him chase. The canines, give them away to good homes, yes.

My suggestion would be steel caps for the dogs teeth, nicely pointed, easily removable steel caps. Follow that up with some good sharp additions to their nails, a collar with retractable razor edged spikes and a good canine flak-jacket. Nice doggy.

UK bullshit:
Burglars will be allowed to escape without punishment under new instructions sent to all police forces. Police have been told they can let them off the threat of a court appearance and instead allow them to go with a caution.
The same leniency will be shown to criminals responsible for more than 60 other different offences, ranging from arson through vandalism to sex with underage girls.
New rules sent to police chiefs by the Home Office set out how seriously various crimes should be regarded, and when offenders who admit to them should be sent home with a caution.
A caution counts as a criminal record but means the offender does not face a court appearance which would be likely to end in a fine, a community punishment or jail.'Let burglars off with caution', police told (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=381799&in_page_id=1770)
Police officers who launch chases over roofs, railway lines and busy roads could be sacked for putting the health and safety of criminals at risk, it has emerged.
New Home Office proposals say that any officer who knowingly flouts guidelines designed to protect themselves and the public could face dismissal for "gross misconduct".
The suggested new rule has infuriated rank-and-file officers who feel that it amounts to a "criminal's charter".
The fear is that police will be too scared to give chase to a suspected thief, burglar or mugger because their own job could be at risk if anyone is injured.Police officers who chase criminals could face sack (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23367061-details/Police+officers+who+chase+criminals+could+face+sac k/article.do)
The insanity continues.

Unless the British people take back control of their government and find the moral courage to treat criminals likw what they are, that nation is dommed to become nothing more than a safe haven and breeding ground for criminals...
It never fails to amaze me how such a once great world empire can fall so low... What is happeneing in Great Britain is a wakeup call to us here in the US...

Comment added to the list:
What the hell is happening in the UK? First the police are told to let criminals off with a warning. Then they're told that they can be sacked for chasing criminals. And now they have to muzzle their dogs so they won't hurt the criminals. What's next? Having tea with the criminals and asking them politely to surrender if it wouldn't inconvenience them too much?
"Stop, or I'll say stop again." The Pythonians were prophets. Your coppers have my deepest sympathy.
" 'It is one of the additional options open to us to muzzle our dogs and get them to use a head butt,' said Sgt Ian Massie. 'We believe it is a safer option for an offender to be head-butted.' " The safety of the offenders is being assured, not by dog head butts, but by government butt-heads.

..." 'It is one of the additional options open to us to muzzle our dogs and get them to use a head butt,' said Sgt Ian Massie. 'We believe it is a safer option for an offender to be head-butted.' ... Well in time maybe someone in the UK government will realize it would be better to replace the dogs with attack goats...
This is insane... Someone has kidnapped the nation of Great Britain... This is not the Britain that fought Hitler...
