I recently made a wager that the rupubs would retain the house this election. I was wondering who else makes bets on things other than sports.

I was unable to vote, I don't go to casinos, I don't gamble on sports, but I don't bet or gamble on just "Anything". I wager only on things where I have "control" of the outcome. I play pool for money, I play poker with friends, I throw darts, etc. I wager occasionally on things I am involved with the outcome on.

I picked "never gamble" 'cause I presume you mean with real, actual money. My answer is no.

We go to casinos in Nevada and Louisiana to gamble, but we only take along the amount of money that we can afford to lose. Sometimes we win. Sometimes we lose. I mostly play Blackjack or Video Poker and more often than not I break even or win a little.

Me too. I guessed that M&M Poker didn't count as gambling...

thats what i do when i go to a casino. never play cards there, i am not nearly good enough (usually lose on small games with friends). cant stand video poker, play the nickel slots that have flashy lights and side games, but usually blackjack. never lost there, won some and broke even some.
but if there is a something out there that is fun for me to bet on, i'll do it. (not a big fan of horses though, i manage to pick the loser every time)

Old joke: I made out like a bandit in Vegas. I went there in a $10,000 Cadillac and came back in a $100,000 bus.
Re gambling, I waste my excess money on sure things.

 The way my luck runs, I just know I'd lose whatever money I came in with.

Same here...that's why we just play w/M&M's. Besides, when your hand sucks, just eat some of your "chips" and you'll feel better. Peanut are worth more than regular :D

I'm a bit more broad. NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, etc.

Actually the Wilshire 5000 is my favorite but it's easier to do a butterfly spread on spiders than on vipers.

I'm not that deeply into it yet. Lance can tell you. Though I do have some OTCBB stuff. Not much.

Will probably do lunch with the sonarman today, and yes he was the one that convinced me to learn more than just plain vanilla calls and puts.

i agree with the stocks, the rush from a great day on a risky penny stock is better than any jackpot hit.
that is why i always play high risk otcbb stuff, lost some good money and made some good money, but had lots of fun

I generally don't bet on anything as I usually end up losing due to fate. I do play video poker and slot at Foxwoods when I visit my mother in Connecticut.

My wife and I will sometimes play slots on the extremely rare occasion we visit a casino, but we do it only for fun and we go with a set amount of money to play, which we fully expect to lose. We just consider it the cost of the entertainment.

I'll drop a buck on a lottery ticket once in a while. Is that considered betting?

I may do that too about a half dozen times a year. Yeah, it's gambling I guess, but a very mild form.

My wife and I usually go on friday night to The Hoseshoe in Bossier City La.and lose a 100 on slots and eat the seafood buffett at The Captians Table restaurant and then go home.I think I'll just get their address and mail them the money and that way i'still be ahead on the gas money.

Back when I worked for the State Park Service (pre-1990) we used to all put a dollar apiece in the pot. Then when we got our paychecks every other week we would look at the serial number on our check, for 2 of a kind, 3 of a kind, full house, and so on, and so on. The guy with the best serial number on his check got whatever was in the pot, which usually amounted to about $7.
That's the extent of the gambling I have done. Nothing else.
