World Series Ratings Hit Record Low!

There are several excuses given as to why the ratings for this years Series were so low, however, it has always been my belief that this will happen anytime you feature teams that only have regional appeal. I think that's why we were bombarded by TV ads with Tommy Lasorda asking fans of other MLB teams to watch the Series.

NEW YORK (AP) -- A World Series to remember for the St. Louis Cardinals was one to forget when it came to television ratings.

The Cardinals' five-game victory over the Detroit Tigers averaged a record-low 10.1 television rating and 17 share, Fox said Sunday. This year's rating dropped 9 percent from the previous bottom, an 11.1 for a four-game sweep by the Chicago White Sox over the Houston Astros last year.

Exactly! Unless the Yankees are in the series, the largest media market in America, New York, isn't watching.

I'm gonna try to get my home into the nielsen system and tell them I am a yankees fan but little will they know that I totally dislike the yankees hahahaha.

Sign of the times. More Americans would rather watch Deviant Housewives than a series between two traditional MLB clubs. To them, one titilates, the other bores. Had Detroit played much better and come back to force a game seven as in 1968, I doubt that would have been "titilating" enough to change the ratings.

I've watched most of the past world series because it has no 'Yankees'.
I agree it is alot more fun when it goes to game 7.

2006 Tigers won one game which made it more fun then the 4 game sweep in 2005. 2006 ALDS was fun seeing the yankees fail to recover.

In 2005 the ALCS was more fun then the world series because the series was a boring 4 game sweep.

In 2004 The ALCS was better then the WS because it went to game 7 and after that it was a 4-0 sweep. The 7 games between NYY BOS was great.
Would have been more fun if it was a 6 game series at least.

2002 7 game Fun. Highest scoring WS ever !
2001 Randy Johnson and Curt Shilling vs the Yankees. Very Fun.
