Barry Goldwater is the ideal of conservatism in my opinion. Every time I read or hear one of his speaches I find myself agreeing almost all of the time. His principles were very simple and easy to follow. Individual responsibility, non-intrusive small government, public service, and civic duty. But I have to wonder if his brand of conservatism would be welcomed in todays so-called conservative community.
