NEW YORK Appearing on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" tonight, Democratic Party chief Howard Dean told host Jon Stewart, "I know half your audience wants us to impeach the president"-- this drew wide cheers -- "but it's not going to happen."
Stewart apologized to Dean for telling him on a previous appearance that the Democrats could not possibly win unless they staked out a clear policy on Iraq and other issues. In Stewart's view, they didn't, and won anyway.
He also noted the two key breakups announced Wednesday: Britney and KFed and Bush and "DFeld," as Stewart called Donald Rumsfeld.
Stewart also said that President Bush seemed a bit humbled during his press conference today and perhaps was ready to compromise and work with the Democrats. Dean reminded him that this was the same person who brought us "Rumsfeld and Cheney."E&P (http://editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003379813&imw=Y)
Geez, weren't the Democrats running on the platform that, if they got the majority in Congress, they would impeach Bush? Or did they start running from that as the poll numbers started to narrow close to the election?

As The Luc says, 'yes.'Careful, Maggie... Subtlety seems to be too high a hurdle for some of our posters today...
Well, Well... Howard Dean and John Stewart... Now that's a pair of intellectual titans... I bet the earth shook when their mental powers were combined...

Interesting to see some Democrats who just won't shut up. Maybe Nancy Pelosi forgot to rip out Dean's vocal chords, along with Harry Reid. Here she is trying to be all "bipartisan", and her fellow leftists are screwing up her Oscar performance.

True, Sanity, but it only reinforces the point that what the Dems/libs say about "bipartisanship" is pure BS. I say let them keep talking. They WILL NOT be able to keep their true selves under wraps for long. That includes Pew-lousy. Her inner bitch will make an appearance soon. I can't wait! :)

Yeah, but what will they do about Cindy Sheehan? As I've pointed out, they can't get rid of her, yet I feel they will want to, sooner rather than later.

They do. Even George Soros has turned his back on her.

Oh, yes, Sanity. Soros is not entirely stupid. In fact, except for the nutcases like Cindy, 90% of liberals are backing away from her. She has become a liability, more than anything else. Too embarassing, too much of a moonbat ... even for the moonbats.

Every outspoken left-winger I know loves the woman to death. If anything, Sheehan has desensatized America from grieving over the loss of our soldiers.

It will take Mother Sheehan at least another twelve to eighteen months to figure out that the MoonBatLeft had forsaken the Head MoonBat.
Meanwhile, she's out there, still inflicting damage.

Here in Maine, people still go around in cars with "I agree with Cindy" bsticker ... then again, here in Maine people still go around in cars with Kucinich and Dean bstickers, so I guess that's not much of a point.
No, really, MrS. For those liberals who are not comatose, Cindy represents a liability. Too many (sane) peope are disgusted with her. Too much bad publicity for "the cause."

I still occasionally see Gore-Lieberman bumper stickers, usually on rusty old Volvos. People who drive them have wanted Bush impeached almost since the day he took office. I wonder if Dean's announcement has tainted their joy over the results of the recent election.

Ya know the sad, embarrassing thing is that all these folks who want Bush impeached obviously dont even know what the definition of Impeachment is... They think they can simply impeach Bush because they dont like his policies... You cant even impeach a President due to gross incompetence... Impeachement is a criminal indictment and, thus, naturally requires that an actual felony be committed on the part of the President...
On the subject of Lefty bumper stickers, we dont see many of them here in God's country (Alabama) but I did see one the other day that cracked me up... The sticker itself was just your standard Kerry/Edwards sticker, but it was the application that was so hilarious - It was attached to the back of a Ford Excusion...
Yall know what that is? Not the Expedition - the Excursion - The biggest damned SUV that ever came from the hand of man... Its is the "Spruce Goose" of SUVs - so utterly huge as to be completely impractical to any living human being... It sucks gas from other cars as it passes them on the road...
And you had to see the arrogant, snotty look on the face of the driver to get the full force of the joke... The irony was sidesplitting... :rotflmbo: :roar: :biglaugh:

Howard Dean to Jon Stewart: We Won't Impeach Bush
Of course not. You never had anything to go on and you knew it. But you lied to your sheep because they didn't know, and the DBM fanned those flames because they were too stupid to know better.

They'll impeach Bush. The Soros/MoveOn/ANSWER left-wing extremists who finance the RAT Party demand it, and like good little sock puppets, they'll do just what the hand shoved up their arses tell them to do.

That's my prediction. They'll push the issues gradually, until they take the White House. Then we're in deep sh*t.

I dunno. Democrats have a history of doing tomorrow precisely what they said today they wouldn't do.

I have to agree with Fox, especially with Waxman's promise (threat?) to investigate Bush about anything he can find.

I would hope they wouldn't try and impeach Bush. Even if they could prove definitively that he committed a crime, they'd never get the votes to do it. And what would be the point? He's been hobbled politically.

The Democrats will figure out a way to do the STUPIDEST possible thing. It's their strongpoint.

Dean may see that it's foolish to attack Bush, but Waxman and others may not be able to.
After Waxman sees his shiny head in the mirror in the morning, it takes his eyes a few hours to see anything clearly.

That's true enough. It's why I said I 'hope' they won't do it, instead of just a blanket 'no, they won't'.

They'll impeach. No doubt about that. Forget not that XXX42 was in fact impeached, although he was not convicted. The impeachment is the trial, not the verdict.
Main Entry: 1 im·peach
Pronunciation: im-'pEch
Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Middle English empechen, from Anglo-French empecher, enpechier to ensnare, impede, prosecute, from Late Latin impedicare to fetter, from Latin in- + pedica fetter, from ped-, pes foot -- more at FOOT
1 a : to bring an accusation against b : to charge with a crime or misdemeanor; specifically : to charge (a public official) before a competent tribunal with misconduct in office c : to remove from office especially for misconduct
Although the common understanding is "c", "a" and "b" are the relevant definitions.
