McCain Begins Preliminary White House Run (http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2644481&page=1)
is party may have taken "a thumpin'," in the words of President Bush, but ABC News has learned that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and his political team have decided it's full steam ahead for his 2008 presidential campaign though he has yet to make the final, official decision.
Sources close to McCain say on Wednesday in Phoenix, he and a half dozen of his top aides huddled and decided to proceed more formally with his quest for the White House.
McCain told ABC News that his team will continue to meet and "go through the process of decision making." But, he added, "I certainly haven't made any decision."
A presidential exploratory committee is expected to be set up this month — perhaps as early as next week. :blah:

McCain has no party. He's not electable, and he's wasting his time trying to run again.

Think I’d Cut’n’run if McCain was the candidate – heck I’d probably vote 3rd party, WTF.
I kinda like Gingrich - and it looks like he's going to run cause he's all over cable news lately.

I think once the debate goes on, which I am looking forward to, McCain is going to get pounded for his voting record and his disloyalty to the conservative base. This is a man who's a Republican one day, and a Democrat the next. I can't say Rudy Giuliani is any better on social policy, but at least he's been consistant with what he advocates. The only worry is that independents are allowed to determine the outcome along with Republicans.
McCain, prepare to have your ass kicked. You'll get tired of it eventually.

If Gingrich would quit acting like a liberal in his private life, he'd have a decent chance.

There is no way I'd vote for this RINO, no way I'd support his run. If he becomes the nominee, I'll write in Regan.

Agree with you both. Gingrich is a Right side Clinton, a cracker in a suit. But I'd vote for McCain only when the sun has already gone nova.

I knew McCain would run after we lost the elections. He knows the GOP establishment RINOs will make sure he gets support form Karl Rove and the party elites because to them all they want is an 'R' in the whitehouse.
With the support of Independents and RINOs and with help from the MSM McCain does have enough to almost win the nomination. With the defeat we had in the elections McCain will probally have a few fence sitters support him because they think we have to be more Liberal to win the whitehouse.

If the Republicans decide McCain is the new face of the party by nominating him for a Presidential run, I'll take my conservative vote elsewhere. If they want a RINO in the Whitehouse in '08, they'll do it without my help. We conservatives have put up with alot of RINO B.S. over the last 6 years. However, now that they've screwed around and lost the House and Senate, I feel like I've got nothing to lose by going third party if I have to.

If this turncoat gets nominated, then I will ... I don't know what I'll do, but I'll be royally pissed off doing it. :flame:

You are totally wrong about Rove being part of the establishment. Rove is very much anti-establishment as is President Bush. Remember, McCain was the establishment candidate in 2000 and George W. Bush was the anti-establishment candidate.

As in 2000, the conservative base of the Republican Party will rise up and defeat the establishment candidate - McCain. I don't know who will succeed George W. Bush as the anti-establishment candidate, however.

McCain, far more than any single individual, was responsible for the Democrat takeover of both houses of Congress.

Simply put, if McCain runs, I'll vote 3rd party. What's the difference, McCain or a Democrat? I see none!

Interesting that 6 of the Gang of 14 were up for election in November, 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans. All the Democrats were re-elected (Lieberman, Byrd and Nelson) but 2 of the three RINO Republicans (DeWine and Chafee) were booted out.
In 2008 we need to get rid of McCain, Graham and Collins to teach them that they WILL be held accountable for their blocking good judges to the bench.

I would offer this thought:
Right now, starting today, the best way to move the Republican Party back to the Right and preserve at least some chance for voctories in '08 is to stop McVain. We need a grassroots groundswell that opposes this creature. It needs to be organized, via the net, and the Repub "leadership", such as it is, needs to see it and understand what is driving it.
That kind of clear message, "We don't want him and we won't vote for him and you will lose if you fix him in anyway" MIGHT drvie the point home to the thickoids. if not then Parrish is correct and the Repub Party will soon be just dusty history.

In that case, both Parties will be dusty history because the Democrats no longer exist as a coherent entity.

Splendid! Then we will start from scratch and finally have a chance at creating a genuinely conservative party. :thumb:
