If W and Rove wanted to set the GOP up for the '08 election they would wait until
the Congress has its recess and suck all the wind out of the 'Rats sails by having
VP Cheney step down and filling the spot with Lt Gov Steele. That would not only
screw McCain it would set up the GOP to win in '08 and along with it both houses.

Rove had said earlier that he wanted Steele in the administration. The only
spot that wouldn't be seen as a token would be the VP. Other than VP the RNC
Chair would be the only other logical spot.

I'm not anti Cheney, I would like to see him as Prez...however.com I don't want anymore RINO's in office or a lightweight that can't win the General Election! That my friend would be horseshit!

Steele sounds great but GWB would not pick someone who disagrees with his amnesty program.

I think it's funny that you think Cheney would allow Bush to fire him. However, you make a good point, Steele would be a good candidate for 08.

W is too loyal to "fire" VP Cheney, but I would hope that for the future of the party that he would step down and allow a rising star in the party to have his shot on stage. These last two years will be a waste anyway so why not groom someone for the spot. There is no love loss between W and McCain, this would be W's chance to stick it to him and actually help the party in the long run.

It wouldn't be a favor to Steele to have him as a Bush veep. He would be in the same fix HHH was in back in 1968, getting tarnished with all Bush's failures and not being able to stake out his own policies for having to defend Bush's policies.

My concerns of Steele as Prez in 2008:

-Support affirmative action and its improvements. (Oct 2006)
-Affirmative action programs still necessary to close divides. (Aug 2006)

We don't need more preference based on race, sex, religion, etc.

-Expand minority-owned business opportunities. (May 2006)
Pandering to minorities again I see. Like they don't have enough preference already...

-Personally opposed to the death penalty. (Mar 2006)
So we let these animals kill and live in prison on our tax money?

-Oppose the No Child Left Behind Act. (Oct 2006)
-Standardized tests keep teachers from educating students. (Aug 2006)
And why not hold schools accountable for continued failing test scores? A standardized does help identify where children need help but one test does NOT fit all nor should they be used as a graduation requirment.
And doesn't this support why we should have the "No Child Left Behind Act?"Don't trap poor kids in failing schools. (Oct 2005)

 No.

Who is your prototypical candidate that wouldn't get his/her ass handed to them on a platter or that could bring out the "faithful" in force in '08? Just curious...

The 'Rats have sold their soul to the devil since '00.

 Shall we, too, sell our souls to the Devil, just to beat Hillary? I'm sure you're prepared to scoff at anyone I name, so for now, I'll refrain. But, it won't be a pro-abortion wacko. Try to remember that we just lost an election by moving away from conservative values.
