I found out about it yesterday. I live up here in Northern Cali, gold country, Placer Co.
There were mines that ran right through my neck of the woods and there's mines all around me. Across the street is a dead quarry that has discarded granite chunks everywhere in my backyard.
When they dug up my yard to get the power to the house(we went underground) they went about 4 feet down. Tons of quartz came up everywhere. Big meaty, jewel-like chunks of it.
I feel like a geriatric retiree with a metal detector... just no down time.
Does anyone know if gold generally hangs out with or near an abundance of quartz?
