Legitimate human owning slavery.

http://www.gatt.org/wharton.html

At a Wharton Business School conference on business in Africa (http://www.whartonglobal.com/africa/panels.asp#Trade), World Trade Organization representative Hanniford Schmidt (schmidt@gatt.org) announced the creation of a WTO initiative for "full private stewardry of labor" for the parts of Africa that have been hardest hit by the 500 years of Africa's free trade with the West.

The initiative will require Western companies doing business in some parts of Africa to own their workers outright. Schmidt recounted how private stewardship has been successfully applied to transport, power, water, traditional knowledge, and even the human genome. The WTO's "full private stewardry" program will extend these successes to (re)privatize humans themselves. "Full, untrammelled stewardry is the best available solution to African poverty, and the inevitable result of free-market theory," Schmidt told more than 150 attendees. Schmidt acknowledged that the stewardry program was similar in many ways to slavery, but explained that just as "compassionate conservatism" has polished the rough edges on labor relations in industrialized countries, full stewardry, or "compassionate slavery," could be a similar boon to developing ones.

This is what free trade's all about," said Schmidt. "It's about the freedom to buy and sell anything—even people."

"Stewardry"? "(Re)privatize"? "Untrammelled stewardry"?

:bsflag:

It's slavery, pure and simple. The mumbo-jumbo will hide it from some people, and that may be enough.

It's staggering. I thought maybe some other group was misrepresenting or twisting someone's words. Nope. Came right off their own web page. A gag, perhaps? Nope.

It's dated November 13. Today's the 14th. You would think the NAACP, PUSH, Black Panthers, Black Congressional Caucus, the tut-tutters in the
Unitarians, Episcopalians, Lutherans and United Church of Christ, and the U.S. Catholic bishops, and the entire cadre of bean-counters and diversity specialists at government agencies, universities, hiring agencies and corporations, PLUS the omnipresent Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have come down with all the noise their presence generates.

SURELY this will wake up someone!

I wouldn't count on it.
Maybe someone should tell Barak Obama.

Don't think, even if the press release is fake, that there aren't individuals who would see this as a rational plan of action if it could be implemented.

A fake, you say? Well, it's a damned good thing the regime in China would never try to abuse people like that, then. Or North Korea. Or Cuba. Or Vietnam. Or ____.

Dayem! Wasted all that outrage on a fake!

democrats have held slaves for decades...and that is no fake. They keep minorities, perverts and lazy people endebted to them with promises of housing, clothing, new cars, special rights, good nails, and fancy hairdo's all paid for with working peoples tax dollars. Keeps them on the old democrat plantation for life.
