View Full Version : Is Eli Manning Overrated?

I saw last night's game. Great if you're a Jacksonville fan, but if you're a Giants fan...Damn...
The San Diego Chargers should be more than thankful to have Philip Rivers instead of Eli Manning.
If not for his brother, Peyton, I don't think this scrub would be in the NFL now. He throws one TD pass in overtime against Philadelphia to win the game and he is hailed as the next Jesus. But last night we all saw what I've seen since the beginning of his NFL career and in his college days. He is just like his brother--if you rush him, if you rattle his cage a little, if you throw off his timing just a tiny bit, if you hit him, he comes unglued and makes stupid mistakes.
Sorry, N.Y. fans, but this is my opinion.

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it, Best.
As it happens, I don't disagree. OR agree. I quit follerin' football about 36 years ago.

I quit follerin' football about 21 years ago.:rotflmbo:
Then again I might watch the superbowl if the Camp Pendleton area Chargers are in it. It might mean alot to some of the Marines in Iraq but probally more if they get to come home and go to the superbowl down in San Diego...... with Ron Burgundy reporting !
Is there any Chargers vs Raiders games coming up ?:D I would like to see the Chargers charge thru the raiders and force them into defeat.

Eli is still young and has much to learn. I voted "no."

It is still too soon to tell if Eli is over-rated or if he is the "Greatest" QB ever

Well, but is it too soon to tell if he's underrated or the "worst" qb ever?

I bestowed that honor on Jeff George!
Most overrated I give to Jake Plummer!
Carter lost his job because he was a druggie!

Eli Manning is not overrated. He's just on a team that has suffered WAY too many injuries and sometimes questionable coaching.

I abstained from this poll because I don't see Eli Manning as rated among the elite quarterbacks in the league. You don't hear him mentioned as a top tier quarterback.
That said he was certainly overhyped when he came out of college and the San Diego Chargers are very fortunate to have traded him for Philip Rivers. At this point Rivers is a superior quarterback compared to Eli Manning.

Eli Manning threw an interception with less than 25 seconds remaining in regulation play against the Titans on Sunday. The score was tied, but Tennessee was able to convert the turnover into a game winning field goal.

Yes, but ANY QB could have done that! If Brett Favre did it, no one would be saying much.

Favre has been criticized in the past, but what Manning did was just retarded. I mean, it was stupid.
But there was more than enough blame to go around on that day. Plaxico giving up on the passes, that one lineman dude who let Young go after he had him in his grasp, etc.
Manning gets the worst of it because the Titans turn right around and score a game winning field goal after his INT.
