Well, I had been looking forward to the movie for quite some time--and it was worth the wait. I saw it this morning.

First of all let me say that I have read the reviews from many of the Yahoo posters concerning the movie and a few of them castigate the movie for supposed political meanings. I suppose you can read just about any meaning into anything if you try hard enough. For a movie like this, I admit that I put any political thinking in neutral and just sit back and try enjoy what I'm watching. For the X-Men movies, I have to ignore the fact that Patrick Stewart, a wonderful actor but a thoroughly disgusting liberal, stars in them.

I enjoyed the movie immensely. I also liked the first one, but felt that it went a bit flat at the end. That was not the case for the sequel. In this one there's a new bad guy, Stryker, who possesses just as deep of a hatred for mutants as Magneto has for non-mutants. You have two new mutants introduced, Yuriko--a female version of Wolverine, and Nightcrawler--a teleporter who is introduced in the opening sequence, a very exciting attack on the White House. You also have all of the mutants from the first movie, except for Sabertooth and Toad (still can't figure out if they died in the first one).

There are specials effects galore and some humor, but the story is, overall, pretty good. It is destined to be sure-fire blockbuster for 2003, and people will certainly clamor for an X3 (and get it).

Go see it if you get the chance.

The story was dreadful.

The story was pretty good. The first scene where Nightcrawler tried to kill the President in the White House was alone worth the ticket price.

Sorry, but men suspeneded by wires, jumping endlessly ass over teakettle might make for good cirque de soleil, but on the silverscreen it just looks like contrived bullshit.

This is Peter Pan in drag.

Sally Duncan in green tights shrieking, "I can fly I can fly I can flyyyyyy" like a crack addict leaping off a tenement house rooftop.

Well, I've spoken to 17,000,000 people who have gone to see it, this is the only negative feedback I've seen so far.

I'm gonna piss off a lot of nerds here, but I'm getting more than tired of all the comic-strip-to-big-screen adaptations lately.

The Hulk, Spiderman, Batman, Darkman and that Ben Affleck piece-of-shit-I-can't-even-remember-the-name-'blockbuster'-horsecrap.

With the X-Men, I think I was just pissed that they passed up on the Fabulous Four (which was, for the genre, more worthy) for this. I would've liked to see the Thing in action. And Stretch. And the fire dude. I forgot what the chick did. Maybe she could suck a ping pong ball out of a garden hose. Or make her boobs clobber you all over.

They just don't do these things right. That's all.

Spiderman--I didn't like because the CGI was too obvious. Darkman was too dreary for my tastes. Batman--too many actors as Batman. Still, I thought Kilmer was a credible Batman and the sets were very "gothic." Superman--the first one was nice, the sequels sucked. Dare Devil (the Affleck POS you refer to)--haven't seen it and have no plans to rent it. Hulk--hasn't come out yet. I saw the trailer and it looks interesting. I wonder how the CGI will hold up in that one.

As for the Fantastic Four (not Fabulous Four), the X-Men has a far greater fan base and a plethora of mutants to choose from when introducing new characters. Fantastic Four--you had Stretch, Rock, Flame, and can't remember the chick's name (Sue?). And they all wore a big "4" on their chests. Kinda cute, but little more than camp.

I predict that X2 will make at least $400 million--and that plans for an X3 will soon be announced.

I actually liked the movie Spider-Man. Peter Parker reminds me of myself when I was a kid.

I'm not a big fan of most of these comics. I'm much more of the Donald Duck type. It's not that I haven't tried to enjoy them. I'm just way out of the loop when it comes to the mythology. I tried to enjoy X-Men again a few years ago, and it wasn't a good experience. There were a dozen unfamiliar characters already deep into a plot which I knew nothing about. Not fun.

TIU, I thought Spiderman as a movie was okay. I just didn't like the CGI effects that innundated it.

Agreed. The scenes where he swung from building to building looked very fake.

That's why they should do it. Cause it is camp.

Have some 1950's game show host narrate. And then after the initial intro, have him do a kind of NBA puff piece. They're F A N N N N T A S T I C!!!

They just announced that combined domestic and foreign take for the first three days of X2 was $156 million. It has two weeks until the second Matrix movie comes out. It should be over $400 million worldwide by then.

Comics to Live Action Movies bit is getting a tad old, If I see Looney Tunes set to live Action I will committ Hari Kari.

I did like the X-Men 2 movie, but not as much as I should have. Most of my problems with this one carry over from the first one-Halle Berry is a cheesy Storm, and Ian McKellan is not as intimidating as Magneto should be. Christopher Lee would have been a better Magneto; he's a great actor, plus his size makes him more intimidating. Ian McKellan is just frail looking. Mystique's voice was ridiculous.

If you're going to make movies from comics, stay true to the material. Please.

I can't imagine a better life than being married to the chick that can change into other chicks.

I dunno, Storm has the attraction of being able to control those home heating and cooling bills.
