...the Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works held a hearing Wednesday to discuss the media’s role in causing global warming hysteria in the country. ...
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Chairman of the Environment & Public Works Committee, said today’s hearing about the media and climate change revealed that “Scare tactics should not drive public policy.” The hearing’s purpose was to examine the media’s presentation of climate science and featured scientists and media experts.
“As the Democrats rush to pass costly carbon cap legislation in the next Congress, today’s hearing showed that the so-called ‘scientific consensus’ does not exist. Leading scientists from the U.S. and Australia denounced much of the media for becoming advocates for alarmism rather than objectivity.” ...
“I was particularly interested in testimony by Dr. Daniel Schrag of Harvard University, who believes that manmade emissions are driving global warming. Dr. Schrag said the Kyoto Protocol is not the right approach to take and agreed it would have almost no impact on the climate even if all the nations fully complied,” Inhofe added. Currently 13 of the 15 EU nations are failing to meet the requirements of Kyoto. ...
Paleoclimate researcher Bob Carter of Australia’s James Cook University, who has had over 100 papers published in refereed scientific journals, noted that “there is huge uncertainly in every aspect of climate change.”
“If you look at the ice core records, you will discover that yes, changes in carbon dioxide are accompanied by changes in temperature, but you will also discover that the change in temperature precedes the change in carbon dioxide by several hundred years to a thousand or so years. Reflect on that. And reflect on when you last heard somebody say that they thought lung cancer caused smoking. Because that is what you are arguing if you argue on the glacial time scale that changes in carbon dioxide cause temperature changes. It is the other way around,” Carter testified. ...
Carter also noted that the media promotes “Couldism, mightism and perhapsism, fueled by computer modeling.”

Inhofe is an idiot, but he does a few things right, thush earning his seat in the Senate. I sure wouldn't want him to be president, as he's too weak (he was our mayor in Tulsa years ago and wasn't a good administrator). He has done an especially good job of carrying the mail as far as protecting us from the UN.

Whoever claims that liberals are not religious need only look at their blind faith in Global Warming to know better. Inhofe has committed blasphemy to question Global Warming which liberals demand must be accepted without any evidence.

Ahhhh, but there IS global warming. The fact that is being ignored is that there is also global warming on Mars! It seems that this is ignored as it hard to justify all those expensive government grabs for more and more power when not even liberals can alter the Sun's behavior!

One thing is dead certain: as soon as the RAT bastards assume control, there will be bills to ram oppressive, irrational GW laws down the throats of American business and industry, who will respond by closing plants and going overseas. The RATs will then screech that the companies don't care about the "little people", and the assholes who put them in power will nod blindly and stupidly, and will vote for even more RATs.

Inhofe is an idiot,
He is no idiot. I have met him. As for Mayor of Tulsa, Tulsa seems to bring out the worst in its mayors, they have stunk for years.

…just to play devils advocate here, if people actually believed that global warming was real – then they must also believe that the ice caps melting will cause the oceans to rise as much as 70 feet.
Wouldn’t you expect Gore, Soros and that Virgin Airlines tycoon to start selling all their Manhattan and Palm Beach property and begin buying up swaths of “future beachfront” land along the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains?
Why would Chronkite care if they put wind farms offshore in Cape Cod if it’s all going to be under water in a year or two anyway (according to Gore).
Why would Ted Kennedy stay on Hyannisport knowing that his liquor cabinet and barrels of whiskey will be submerged under the waves soon?
C’mon, if these guys really believed this bullshit they would be scurrying to higher ground quicker then the rats on Titanic. You think Ted wants to end up like Kopechne in the backseat of his Oldsmobile?
This whole thing reminds me of the millions made before Y2K selling disaster books and scaring seniors into hording 6 months worth’s of string beans and spam.
The Inconvenient Truth here is that NO ONE is buying up land on higher ground in anticipation of Gore’s Global Warming floods. That's because NO ONE is buying this junk science horsehooey.

Now then, since the ARCTIC ice cap is already in the water, IF it were to melt, the ocean levels would fall.
If anyone doubts this FACT, fill a glass with ice, then top it off with water...then wait until the ice melts and see what happens. If BOTH ice caps were to melt (which is NOT gonna happen unless the Sun supernovas...and then, who the heck cares WHAT happens here?), the ocean levels would be almost a wash.

If anyone doubts this FACT, fill a glass with ice, then top it off with water...then wait until the ice melts and see what happens.Ice is less dense than water for a given volume because it expands as it solidifies. It is of course the only substance that does, and the only substance that needs to do so. What would happen to fish and other life in ponds and lakes if ice sunk as it solidified, thus causing them to freeze from the bottom up?
It's another example of an infinitely wise Creator/Designer planning for everything.
In the case of arctic ice, since it is already floating freely on the water, its mass is displacing the volume of water that an equivalent mass of water would occupy. Ergo, if it melted there would be no noticeable change in sea level. The result would be the portion of the ice above the water level disappearing as as it melts.
IAC, the ice has been there for uncounted years and through warming cycles that were more extreme than what we're in now (caused solely by nature, one must add). But, GW loonies never allow facts to get in the way of their junk science.

What about ice on land mass?
Its the Greenland Icesheet that global warming proponents seem concerned about, rather than arctic sea ice

Yes, but the Greenland Ice Sheet is thickening as is the Antarctic Ice Sheet.
Glaciers are growing around the world, including the United States (http://www.iceagenow.com/Growing_Glaciers.htm)
The Antarctic Ice Sheet is Growing Thicker (http://www.iceagenow.com/Growing_Antarctic_Ice_Sheet.htm)

If the world heats sufficiently to result in the total melting of an estimated 7.2 million cubic miles of Antarctic ice (equal to an ice cube about 193 miles to a side), flooding will be the least of the world's problems.

RE:
From your web link:
Antarctic Ice Sheet Growing – Sea Levels Falling
8 Nov 06 - Antarctic Ice Sheet Growing – Sea Levels FallingWell, this proves it; the ice bergs are ignoring the “consensus” of all (left wing) “scientists. Something needs to be done to melt them immediately - before Gore’s movie is released on DVD. Perhaps Gore’s publisher could send all unsold copies of “Inconvenient Truh” to the Antarctic to melt the ice sheet once and for all.
And does this mean that we’re not buying enough SUV’s and our power plants have overcompensated, becoming too clean?
What can we do to help avoid the coming ice-age.

Somebody needs to tell those icebergs to get with Algore's program. They're making the former veep look like a loon, a liar and a con artist.
