Lettuce,

I found a recipe for hot green pickled tomatoes. If you didn't want them to be hot, just leave out the pepper.

Is it the Green Tomato Chutney... is that the recipe??? It has raisins in it. Have you ever had raisins in pickled green tomatoes??? Everything else sounds regular... except for the
3/4 cup chopped fresh ginger root, or 3 oz. crystallized ginger
Never would have thought of adding ginger... but, thinking about it... probably would work... may even be part of that taste I love! ALSO... never thought about using a sweet pickle or even bread & butter pickle recipe... that would work too, I imagine.

I just paid $4.50 for a 1/2 pint of pickled green tomatoes. Forget that.
Thanks for the link, Ladyhawke. Gotta get a tomatoe garden going!!!

Here it is....

I use the basic sweet pickle recipe[equal ammonts of sugar and vinegar, tummeric, mustard seed, celery seed and salt]pack the jars the same as you would with cuecumbers but use small green tomatoes cut into wedges and add a hot pepper sliced up to each jar.
