That's so sweet. The snake knew something was wrong with his owner and, out of loyalty, wrapped himself around the guy's neck to keep him warm and safe until help arrived.

Why people keep those things as "pets" I will never know. Part of God's creation, yes, pet, no.

Part of God's creation, yes, pet, no.The cant bark or purr, you cant take them for a walk,Inever seen one with any kind of personality. So, that is a very good question. Why would you keep one for a pet?maybe it was a specially trained attack snake.

I can think of several reasons: if you suffer from allergies snakes make great pets (no dander, hair, and fleas.) You don't have to feed them daily! And, you don't have to clean up after it everyday like a dog or cat.
Hmmm.... yeah boring. Dave's dog is a real blast....

Hmmm.... yeah boring. Dave's dog is a real blast....Im familiar with snakes my best friend is a captive breeder of all kinds of reptiles. He has poisonous and nonpoisonous and also many kinds of lizzards.he ships and receives his "Children"as he calles the all over the world. If I wnnt to get him good I tell him about the snake skin boots that I saw at "Cavenders"and he goes nuts.He is constantly feeding and cleaning etc.and beside his place of business stinks to high heaven.

Snakes: essentially mindless eating machines. Pets are creatures that can actually think and interact with humans, at the level of a very young child, yes, but actually interact, empathize and give affection. Snakes? What the?!

The snake was still strangling Dres when deputies arrived, and the officers had to work with members of an animal protection group to remove the reptile, the sheriff's office said. Say that again? I get the sense that the officers might have been able to save his life, but the animal protection group wouldn't allow them to kill the snake to do so. Maybe I'm wrong, but the text certainly allows for that interpretation, no?

Well, yes, mine too right now. Still, he loves his Papa and can throw a mean curve ball. His Papa taught him that.:thumb:
When you think of my son, think about that commercial where the kid is eating a stick of butter.
LOL!
Boy's almost my height -- 5' 11'' -- at 15, weighs in at a still somewhat gangly teenage 140.
Course, I'm a somewhat overweight, middle-aged 200.
I like my pork chops and I like my steak -- broiled not stirred, medium-rare.

Your ex? Hell, I thought I was talkin' about her lawyer.Hmmmm ... my ex's lawyer is getting around these days. However, he's much closer to a rattlesnake than to a boa.

Anyone else note the irony in who the spokesman was for this incident?
Andy Mahlman, spokesman for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to ANIMALS. Poor, poor snake.
