I have a friend we all call Homer. His name isn’t really Homer, we call him that because he IS a Homer. He’s a good person, kept himself employed most of the time, and overcame a minor learning disability to work himself up to redneck heaven. A wife, 4 kids, an indeterminate number of dogs, and a trailer house with a 30 year loan were all his.
Wonderful treasures like that never last long. The wife divorced him and took half the kids, and then the trailer was repossessed. Now Homer lives with his parents and his slightly more retarded brother. In addition to Homer’s two kids they share the house with two other kids his brother has from that failed marriage. I never met his brother’s ex-wife but she must be something special for the judge to award custody to the retarded father. Did I mention that Homer is the only person in the house who has a job?
Next time you think you are having a bad day, remember Homer, and be thankful for what you have.
