Science proves celebs really are different - Sunday Times - Times Online (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2524261,00.html)

DO the stars find themselves as fascinating as their fans do? Yes, says a forthcoming psychological study of Hollywood’s celebrity class. It is not just money or career that makes them seem different: it is their extreme levels of self love and their compulsive need for public attention.

Some stars have long been aware of Hollywood vanity. Beyoncé Knowles, the pop singer and actress, said recently: "It’s scary that you rarely meet celebrities that are normal. They live on their own diva planets."

Two Los Angeles psychologists have produced the first scientific evidence that many celebrities sincerely believe that they are better than the rest of us.

Two Los Angeles psychologists have produced the first scientific evidence that many celebrities sincerely believe that they are better than the rest of us.Every time they open their pieholes to spout their "thinking" on subjects about which they obviously know precisely nothing (e.g., the renowned chemist, Dr. Meryl Streep, addressing Congress on alar, or the famous nuclear physicist, Jane Fonda, orating on the dangers of nuclear power), they demonstrate that they consider themselves part of an elite group of ultrahumans. The only thing they are universally unaware of is what consummate asses they make of themselves.

In their own minds Hollywooders comprise the Nietzschean übermensch (Superman), to whom the normal rules do not apply. Hence they can do as they please -- indeed, MUST do as they please.

Odd that a lunatic diagnosed so many lunatics so early-on. Nietzsche had completely lost his mind by about 1892.

Who are dumber, though, the celebrities or the :sheeple: who take their social and political views seriously?

Who are dumber, though, the celebrities or the :sheeple: who take their social and political views seriously?Obi-Wan Kenobi posed a similar question to Han Solo: "Who's the more foolish: The fool, or the fool who follows him?"

And the award goes to (drum roll) THE SHEEPLE! :D

Seriously. The sheeple are the worst. Celebrities can cackle about what they don't know till the go blue in the mug. But it's a fact that if celebrities did not have the sheeple to worship them and read/believe every word they blabber - and the complicit media prints - nobody would even hear about them.

Hands up who else is sick to death of hearing about Angelina Jolie's baby-adopting/dropping frenzy.

The other day, I was standing in line at (gasp!) Wal-Mart (yes, I shop there). As usual, I was confronted with the obligatory display of magazines, all of them with Brangelina - the Hot Couple, as the media calls them - on each cover. Two young girls standing behind me started gushing about how Angelina does so much to help poor babies, and how she's so much better than Jennifer Aniston, who never did anything for them (all of a sudden, Aniston is the Wicked Witch of the West because she never adopted a 3rdW baby. Are you taking notes, Hollywood ladies? Madonna did :D No fool, that one).

I'm not denying that Angelina does good by adopting these 3rd world babies. But, being the die-hard cynic that I am, I could not help thinking that all of a sudden, she is being hailed as the inventor of adoption. There are millions of couples that adopt babies from 3rd world countries, but the drive-by media never talks of them. One of our Freecer friends (Antigone, I think) is one of those wonderful, compassionate people.

And to be fair and render unto Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar, Susan Sarandon also does a lot for poor countries. I never knew about it until I read it on one of O'Reilly's books. You never see Sarandon on magazine covers, toting babies of assorted colors. And for that (only for that) she has my respect.

Charity and good deeds should be done in silence, for the sake of doing the right thing. Not to corner the magazine cover market.

One of our Freecer friends (Antigone, I think) is one of those wonderful, compassionate people.Brother Westbrook is one of those truly compassionate people who adopted foriegn children because of his love for God and those kids. Jolie and her narcissistic peers do it for publicity.

Bimbo and her ilk could have save a lot of money by adopting Chinwendu.

NOW YOU CAN ADOPT AN AFRICAN ORPHAN FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE THE STARS PAY!

Anybody who's anybody is adopting an African orphan these days, even if they have parents. It's the hottest trend there is.

Yes, in Hollywood, African orphans are the new Louis Vuitton!

But what do you do if you're not famous, and don't have the money to bribe local officials in third world countries?

ORPHANS FOR THE REST OF US ©

Buy a hand sewn orphan, complete with adoption papers and a Kabbalah bracelet for added realism!

Now you can have all the prestige of a third world child, without all that pesky nurturing!Chinwendu (http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Chinwendu_W0QQitemZ330044493568QQihZ014QQcategoryZ 48920QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Didnt need a group of Psychologists to tell me that Hollywood is Narcissistic or stupid for that matter, I came to that conlcusion about 20 years ago and it didnt cost the taxpayers a dime.

Yep, that would be me. Guilty as charged and loving every minute of it! :D

What I really can't understand is why the people even give these "celebrities" any credibility at all. What do they do, really? Get paid to pretend to be someone else and flash their pooty-poos all over the mags to get attention when their career is in the crapper. I'm sure we were all sitting on the edge of our seats waiting to see exactly where Britney gets waxed.

If there were any group that deserves to be ignored, it's the Hollywood crowd.

Incidentally, if you'd actually like to "adopt" a kid from a country where they really need help, but don't need the ego enhancement the stars seem to enjoy, look here:
