Trying to save his ass from Hamas, Abbas is attempting to unify Palestine under its collective hatred of Israel.
As quoted in the Jerusalem Post:
Appealing to Palestinians to avoid civil war, Abbas said: "We are all one people regardless of differences of opinion. My top priority is to preserve national unity, because Palestinian infighting and blood are a red line that must not be crossed."
Defending his call to use weapons against Israel, he added: "We have a legitimate right to direct our guns against Israeli occupation.

One other note, I find it so hilarious that in this country when we disagree on political issues we do not automatically go to the brink of civil war. We fight it out in debate or votes. More anecdotal proof that the Muslim threat is a dangerous and growing problem, that is gaining ground exponentially. These people are philosophically and culturally in the "Dark Ages" while being surrrounded by the 21st century.
