It must be an unjust war then.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. troops were fatter and drank harder in 2005 than before the Iraq war started, according a Pentagon survey of more than 16,000 service members released on Friday.

Still, the Pentagon said service members appeared to fare better than civilians in measures of lifestyle and health-related behaviors.

The food in Iraq is THAT good, eh? It musta changed since the Korean conflict. I ate with all forces of the military and the Air Force [my area]was the best. I still lost 30 pounds and was down to a 28 waist. My thigh muscles were that big when I played football shortly before joining the AF. [Y'all know bully beef? We swore it was horsemeat.]

Now, my tastes are more critical than most but I sure didn't see anyone gain weight while I was enlisted.

The food MUST be MUCH better.

Irish, Army food was already greatly improved by the time I enlisted in 1971. Those were the Vietnam years of c-rats outta cans. Today's MRE's are just as good. That's for field rations. Army messhalls my entire career served excellent fare. (I retired in 92)

And if the troops were seen to be too thin, Reuters would be accusing Bush (I'm sure it boils down to that, as usual) of not feeding them.

Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. No surprise.

The food in Iraq is THAT good, eh?

Food is now provided by K.B.R. in the D.FACS.(Dining Faciltiy) and yes it is quite gooood. I would say it is one step above good cafeteria food. The troops are eating quite well.

Military food is made to be nourishing, and to give the necessary energy to people busting their asses 23 hours a day at times. You work hard, you party hard. I used to get really drunk at times that I had to crawl back to my ship, but danged if I didn't crawl back like a Sailor!

If they've got time to eat and get drunk, they must not be fighting. Is that what they're trying to say?

In Ft. Polk, LA, I worked in the admin section, but I ALWAYS went to the combat arms mess halls, because it seems like the front liners had the best mess halls and the best food. Of course they were out in the field more than not.

Any Sailor, Soldier, Marine, or Airman can do both, but that's nothing candy asses like Reuters can appreciate.

Reuters does not have a good track record for telling the truth.

Reuters does not have a good track record for telling the truth.

While Al Reuters attempts to denigrate young people who have a sense of patriotism and love for America, who choose to serve in our armed forces, something you'll never read in Reuters or the the MSM in general is many colleges are no longer places of higher learning but instead they teach anti-American, anti-capitalist propaganda. Liberal outlets with curriculums of socialist dribble. Alleged higher education has become a party place of drunkeness and sex orgies to continue the leftist strategy and plan to dumb down America and graduate little Lenins'.

I'll take a squad of hard-working, overweight, party-hardy/hearty fighters who are not queasy about shooting as many bad guys as they can over a platoon of lean, vegetarian, weight-lifting quiche-eaters who joined for the educational benefits and sensitivity training.

I'd like to see one of those Reuters wimps ford a 5-ton through a mosquito-infested Louisiana swamp at 3 a.m. and eat a rock-hard MRE potato pack and down it with cold coffee. In full chemical gear.

I've done it! :D
