Rangel Open-Minded on Tax Cuts

Feisty New York Rep. Charles Rangel says he is still open-minded about President Bush's tax cuts due to end in 2010 — but he will take strong steps to eliminate the burden of the alternative minimum tax.
In a wide-ranging interview with NewsMax, Rangel, the new chairman of the House's powerful Ways and Means Committee, reveals he wants to avoid a "political confrontation" with Republicans.
In the past, Rangel has beaten the liberal drum loudly. He has been arrested three times for taking part in civil protests, and has compared President Bush to Bull Connor, the police official in Birmingham, Ala., who led attacks on civil rights protesters in the 1960s. But Rangel struck a more conciliatory tone when he spoke with John Browne, contributing editor of NewsMax's Financial Intelligence Report, to discuss tax policy, education, trade, and other important issues. However, he left no doubt about his opposition to President Bush's call for a "surge" in troop levels in Iraq and to a pre-emptive strike on Iran.

Granted, it is one issue, albeit a big issue, but with the infighting seemingly developing between Rangel and Pelsoi, it is no surprise Ragnel is taking baby steps to distance himself away from ole Leatherface(a.k.a. Nancy Pelosi) and her idiotic, Pacific Heights loving, Berkley induced, stupidity. Even the upper echelon of the liberal monarchy seems to be questioning the crowning of Pelosi as Queen. It shows their "feel good at the monment" mentality versus looking at the long term implications of their plans.

Im still waiting to see how long it takes before the House Democrats hold their own no-confidence vote on Pelosi... She was a convenient attack dog to use on the Pubs when the Dems were still in the minority - Just a barking fool on issues they knew full well they had no strong apostion on other than being perpetually opposed...

But the Dems made a tactical error - They had not considered their plan for replacing her if and when they gained control of the Speaker's Chair... In their drunken jubilation over winning the election, they simply slipped their minority leader pit bull into the Speaker's chair without the first thought put to whether she was capable of "leading" the House...

Now they must live with her embarrassing comments and policies and they cant hide their family in-fighting from public view... I bet Rangel and his ilk now wish they had put more thought to their choice of Speaker before they "went live" on prime time...

Exactly, now I realize the article does not mention ole Leatherface or a rift between her and Rangel. But I think we all know about Pelosi's hysterical opposition to President Bush's tax cuts. The fact that Rangel is willing to make a move in favor of the President's plan is a sign of some disfunction starting at the top of the "Dimwitted Ones" leadership.

Rangel isn't as loony as Pelosi but just as nasty and just as insistent on having his way.

I'm not sure that Rangle isn't just as loony as Bella Pelosi.

I'm not, either. :D
