In 2004, a poster on the conservative website FreeRepublic.com using the pseudonym "Kerry Crusher" -- identified on FreeRepublic.com as blogger Patrick Hynes -- characterized Chelsea Clinton as "hideously ugly." The comment recalled a "joke" Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) reportedly told (http://mediamatters.org/rd?http://www.salon.com/news/1998/06/25newsb.html) about Clinton in 1998: "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." Hynes was hired by McCain's Straight Talk America political action committee in 2006. In addition to the Chelsea Clinton smear, "Kerry Crusher" also attacked McCain himself in 2004 as "a contemptable [sic] human being."

As Media Matters for America noted, The New York Times (http://mediamatters.org/rd?http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/07/us/politics/07edwards.html?_r=1&oref=slogin) and Associated Press (http://mediamatters.org/rd?http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/07/ap/politics/mainD8N4KDJ82.shtml) both reported Catholic League president Bill Donohue's criticism that two bloggers hired by John Edwards' presidential campaign are "anti-Catholic, vulgar, trash-talking bigots," without noting Donohue's history of vulgar, trash-talking bigotry, or his dismissal of anti-Kerry operative Jerome Corsi's anti-Catholic bigotry in 2004. Citing several of Hynes' controversial comments, blogger Glenn Greenwald argued (http://mediamatters.org/rd?http://glenngreenwald.blogspot.com/2007/02/look-at-john-mccains-blogger.html) on February 7 that the same standard the Times and the AP applied to Edwards and his bloggers should be applied to all candidates, including McCain:

So Donahue [sic] and people like Michelle Malkin have dug through the archives of the two Edwards bloggers -- Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan -- and found bad words and posts that they claim are offensive.Media Matters (http://mediamatters.org/items/200702070007)

If McCain is calling Chelsea Clinton ugly, then pot is indeed calling the kettle black.

Oh damn. LOL

She's also a sloppy drunk, too. The last time I saw a picture of her, she was in England being poured into the back seat of some limo she was so damn blasted.

If McCain keeps jokes like that coming, he might just be able to trick us into giving him the Republican Nomination.

Chelsea is so ugly because Web Hubbell is her daddy and the Pig In A Pants Suit is her other daddy.

If you don't think Web is her daddy, pull up their pictures and put them side by side.

True, but I really don't think she's a fair target for public abuse, just like Jenna or Barbra. You can't pick your parents. She should be left alone.

She's definitely not ugly, though her mouth is a little on the big side (gee, I wonder where she gets that trait from?).

Here's Web Hubbell for comparison:

If James Carville looks like a reptile, Hubbell looks like a fish.

Insult Hillary if you want. More than likely I will agree with you. Make fun of Senator McCain, again I will probably agree with you. However, I have never been one of the people that thought it was "Cool" to insult the children of public figures. All it does is belittle the person making the insult.

When she was younger, I gotta say she was rather unattractive, but then who hasn't been through those terrible teenage years. She's cleaned up and although not a raving beauty, she isn't as bad as some.

I just hope she doesn't have her mother's fingernails on a chalkboard voice!!

It's not an insult if it's true. LOL

I sometimes wonder if Hillary's mom might be Helen Thomas.

I never thought it was, cool, either. But I did think it was true, and her folks are the rottenest bastards in American politics and they raised her to be a rotten bastard in politics.

I agree Unkl! 'Taint her fault! However, get a picture sans the hair draped over the forehead, and put it up besides Webb's and you'd need DNA to prove that she wasn't a daughter of Webb! Also, Webb's commentary about taking the hit for Hillary again certainly resonates to a shared parenthood.

It is also in character for Hillary to do whatever is necessary for a buck or an edge! What's better than screwing (with) the boss?

I haven't followed (or cared about) her peccadillos, but I have always sympathized with (or for) her! Imagine living with Bill and Hillary...The white house isn't any pleasure with that company!
