CONCORD, N.H. -- Veterans of Al Gore's past are quietly assembling a campaign to draft the former vice president into the 2008 presidential race -- despite his repeated statements that he's not running.

His top policy adviser from his 2000 presidential campaign and other key supporters met Thursday in Boston to mull a potential Gore campaign. The participants and Gore's Nashville office both said Gore, who is in London, is not involved.

Elaine Kamarck, a veteran of the Clinton White House and Gore's policy guru in 2000, said the meeting was informal and shouldn't be taken as a sign there will be a Gore 2008 campaign.LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/politics/wire/sns-ap-draft-gore-2008,1,6410071.story?coll=sns-ap-politics-headlines) (registration required)

Are they dissatisfied with Hillary and the other candidates in the field?

 What do they see in this guy? He's not even very successful in stealing elections.

Gore does need to run in 2008. He needs to run for the Bus, He needs to run for the train, He needs to run for anything but President. If he really wants to lighten the impact of Humanity on "Mother Earth" he should try lightening himself by about 50 lbs or so.

I've got to feel this is a backlash against the apparent Hillary bandwagon. Don't be surprised if it doesn't go very far, however.

Oh, run, Al, run.

Please. I'm begging you.

Run.

Jump in.

Do it now.

Come on, Al. You're all we need to turn this Democrat[ick] Primary Season into a real Barnum & Bailey Three Ringer.

Do it for us, Al.

Run, Algore, run!

Liberal egos are so fragile it's pathetic. Very few Americans want Al Gore as president, but Gore's too full of himself to see that. Instead he's listening to the siren song of a few really idiotic supporters: "They love me! They really do love me!" He gets so choked up he dumps in his pants and shoots off at the same time, drooling all the while. "President Gore! Imagine! President Gore!"

Anybody else have any good endings?

I think they should rub Gore down with oil like a prizefighter as they whisper encouragement into his ear except with him don't use Ben Gay. Instead use a stick of butter or a Manteca lard cube. Its more to his liking and nature seeing as how he is an enormous swath of man lard anyway. Then, as he's shadow boxing, getting ready, his belly jiggling like a tipped over lava lamp, you throw a box of powdered sugar all over him, stick him in the oven and glaze him for 20 minutes. By the time he comes out, that little temperature thing has popped out of his side.

I think it's a great idea--the eco-nuts need their own candidate and maybe even convince him to move to the Green party. A lot of quasi-libs are buying his "global warming" gobbly-gook so he could take 10-15% of votes from the 'rats....and if Nadar runs again, who knows?

I think AlGore should run as an independent in the General Election. I am fairly sure he could garner the "Green" Party nomination.
